How about a new “simply small” project? My “simply small” projects are beginner projects that can be made with Moda Candy packs and just a little bit of extra yardage. Today’s “Scrappy Four Patch Table Topper” can be made using just one Moda candy pack. It goes together in no time, and is perfect for your everyday decor or for piecing with holiday fabrics for seasonal decor.
I wanted to make a Halloween and Christmas version before I did this post, but just didn’t get them done. But I do plan to make a Christmas one for sure. This is also a good design for a pillow top. Make a bigger pillow or leave off the outer border if you want your pillow a bit smaller. A fun binding fabric will frame it beautifully. I have the pattern for sale in my Craftsy pattern shop–you can download the pattern from my Craftsy shop here.
Today I’d also like to share the photos I received from the “Simply Small” Christmas gift challenge in July. It’s so fun to see all of these gifts ready to go, and it’s still September (and most of these were completed by early August)! For the challenge participants needed to use 2 ½″ squares, and any of the patterns I’ve shared could be used as well as any other design for these small bits of fabric. So…here are the finishes:
Elaine made these two potholders in fun fall fabrics.
Gai made three different table runners from two different patterns in Christmas tones with neutrals.
Hildy made several potholders and a table runner!
Janet made a runner and pot holders. I love how she finished the edges on the potholder in front.
Joy made a runner and potholders!
Mindy made these fun paper pieced ornaments. 2 ½″ squares are perfect for small paper piecing projects!
I love Sharon’s pot holder and dish towel sets!
And finally, Susan made this fun wreath project from the Moda Bake Shop (I think I have the photo sideways…the bow on the right should be on the bottom).
I’ve sent the new pattern to parade participants…if I’ve left anyone out (I was pretty late with this post) please don’t hesitate to email. I’ll add in your photo and send the pattern asap.
If you make the Scrappy Four Patch Table Topper…send me a photo by October 8th, and I’ll share it on the October 10th parade.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
