Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing Sewcialites 3 Block 13, Back Porch. I loved making this block not only because it is a fun block to make but also because I was able to use our new Midsummer collection for my block. I’m also going to sprinkle in those Midsummer fabrics with several of the upcoming blocks.

Block 13 Details
The Back Porch block from Joanna Figueroa is definitely a favorite. And it’s so cute in the 3″ finished size. I used four different prints from Midsummer including one of the low volume prints. I followed pattern instructions but strip-pieced the rectangle sections. Additionally, I used the Mini Simple Folded Corners ruler to simplify the easy corner triangles.

Hi Sherri,
I am about to begin working on your pattern Summer House and I just want to make sure I have enough fabric for all of the parts. Because I was having trouble finding the Strawberry Lemonade collection (I was able to pick up a petite fat quarter bundle) I had to change to another collection so I chose the Laguna Sunrise collection. I only have one honey bun, one layer cake, 4 charm packs, plus the Strawberry Lemonade petite fat quarter. I think I have enough tone on tone white for the sashing and background. I am wondering if that is going to be enough to complete the quilt. I did find one honey bun on Etsy in Laguna Sunrise but that is all and the price due to the shipping cost is quite high. Would the collection Delightfully yours coordinate with the two other the Strawberry Lemonade and Laguna Sunrise? I am just wondering if they would all coordinate together in the pattern and how I would do that so that it looks right and not too scrappy? I greatly appreciate your advise on this matter.
Thank you,
Jeanne

Hi Jeanne!
Thank you…I think you will be okay…but Delightfully Yours will add in nicely if you need extra. You will need lights for the log cabin strips and can do that all tone on tone or a mix of tone on tone and the light prints from the collections you have. It will be beautiful!
