Hello and happy Monday! Late last night I returned home from a wonderful quilt retreat at the Sew Sweet Quilt Shop in Brunswick, Missouri. I had a fabulous time and was able to teach two days, give a trunk show, and spend time with fabulous quilters!
There is just something about attending a quilt retreat…so much creativity in
one place makes for a very fun time! I flew into Kansas City and in under two hours had arrived at Sew Sweet Quilt Shop. The shop is owned by a mother daughter team–Jeanette and Jessica, is absolutely wonderful, and has two stories with a terrific selection of a large array of fabrics. There is a large classroom space with terrific lighting, a full-size kitchen and dining area, and accommodations (rooms for two with private bathrooms) for about 25 quilters.
I really enjoyed the drive…part Interstate and part state routes through rolling green hills with corn fields and trees–truly beautiful country!
The shop is located in a refurbished older building and has lots of style and charm! Every detail has been thought of! There are several gift and antique shops nearby that I also enjoyed visiting!
I was able to teach my Patchwork Garden quilt on day one…here are some of the blocks that were made that day, and of course some of the lovely quilters!
And here is almost everyone from the Mahalo class with some of the beautiful blocks on the design wall!
I had to get close ups of some of the finished blocks…all different kinds of fabrics were used…from brights…
to red, white and blue…
to Tula Pink fabrics with a striking black background!
When we weren’t quilting there was lots of yummy food to eat…Brunswick has several wonderful eating establishments in town…and most of us took an ice-cream break each afternoon to walk next door to the cutest ice-cream and soda shop, Kaitlynn’s.
My husband and I were able to stay at the lovely Ashlyn House Bed & Breakfast. I highly recommend this lovely home with it’s ever so lovely proprietor, Lynn! If you’re heading to visit Sew Sweet Quilt Shop for an afternoon, or for a retreat, it’s worth it to go a day early just to stay here!
I’m truly grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time in such a lovely location with such genuine and creative women. I definitely want to get back there again one day! Of course I did a little shopping while I was there, and I’ll share my finds later this week!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

There is nothing as refreshing and enjoyable as a great quilt retreat. I have not been to one, other then just a family sewng get together, in years. You inspired me to rethink that. This was a lovely and refreshing post to read. Thank you.
