Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing the Saturday Seven 387: Lifestyle & More for Quilters post with a variety of inspiration I’ve found from around the internet this week.
I had a couple of eye surgeries earlier this month and am now recovered and back to my normal routines–and seeing a lot better while I’m doing them. I’m so grateful for modern technology and great medical professionals. (I had cataracts removed and new lenses put in that bring my vision to better than it’s ever been). Keep reading for this week’s inspiration! I hope you’ll find some great ideas for your weekend and the week ahead.

Saturday Seven 387: Lifestyle & More for Quilters
1. Self-Care
I loved reading “The 7 Most Important Things to Simplify in Your Life.” I also enjoyed this piece on “12 Things to Stop Doing If You Want a Simpler Life.”
2. Recipes to Try
First, here is a great post with amazing ideas for smoothies–there are simple formulas you can follow with ingredients you have on hand along with some specialty recipes. This Chili Lime Chicken Salad looks amazing–perfect for your Cinco de Mayo dinner!
3. Quilt + Sew
Fat Quarter Shop has a fast and fun new free pattern available that uses just 12 fat quarters and background fabric. Get the free Square Up Quilt Pattern here. And I recently loved reading Amy’s post on the influence of William Morris (a designer who changed the history of fabric) –she did such a fantastic job! Finally, I loved Vanessa’s post on “How to Make a Plan for Your Quilt Top: Start to Finish in One Month.“
4. Book & Podcast Recommendations
Sarah has a couple of new podcasts out that I recently enjoyed. One is from Cal Newport on the topic of managing your time in 5 Minutes a Day. I also loved one from Best Laid Plans about routines and planning your weekends (note: Sarah makes a good case for doing some planning for your weekends).
5. Brightly Sampler Sew Along from our Family Favorites Book

In the video you’ll be able to see my April and May blocks up close (with pressing details) plus hear a few details about the remainder of this sew along. I just heard the term “mediumalism” and feel like it suits me to a tee. While I love reading about minimalism, I’ve decided I’m truly a mediumalist! See more about this with photo examples in this fun post from Miss Mustard Seed.

Just found your site. Thank you.
What is the name of the quilt in the second picture on this day’s posting? It is the one in front of all the fabric bolts and jelly rolls on the shelves. It’s beautiful!
