Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing the Saturday Seven 364: Lifestyle & More for Quilters. My Saturday posts feature a round-up of things I’ve found during the week from all around the internet. I hope you’ll find some inspiration for your weekend and the week ahead.
I’ve finished up all of my fall sewing (you’ll see my final fall project pictured in this post), and this weekend I’m moving on to Christmas gift sewing. I’m super excited to be sewing in the season and also plan on sewing some things with Christmas fabrics I’ve been hoarding saving. I’ll be sharing these projects over the next few weeks as I get them finished up!

Saturday Seven 364: Lifestyle & More for Quilters
1. Self-Care
I’ve been trying to pick a 2024 service project for the holidays and found this article helpful–if you have ideas you’ve done in the past, I would love if you could share in the comments! (If all else fails, I will probably do a quilt donation to a guild I’ve donated to before). I can’t think of any better self-care during this season than to help those in need.
2. Recipes to Try
This Skillet-Baked Macaroni and Cheese from the Smitten Kitchen looks amazing! I’m going to try this Breakfast Casserole recipe when we have family here for the holidays (it looks amazing, and I always love Elizabeth’s recipe ideas). And if you are like me and plan to make an additional turkey breast with your turkey, this slow cooker method is a perfect way to cook without using oven space. And finally, if you’re looking for a chocolate dessert for your Thanksgiving dinner, this Chocolate Pudding Delight looks amazing!
3. Quilt + Sew
I recently finished up a really large patchwork pumpkin pillow! I used a variety of oranges, greens, and greys from different Sherri & Chelsi collections. And I also used this magic dot on white from Lella Boutique for the inner border. This was a fun make! Find the free PDF pattern here and find the pillow insert I used here.
This was officially my final fall make this year as I’m sewing Christmas gifts for the next month!
4. Book & Podcast Recommendations
I have pre-ordered the book Toxic Productivity: How to Reclaim Your Time and Emotional Energy in a World that Always Demands More, so I enjoyed listening to her podcast with Greg McKeown. Listen here.
5. Christmas Decorating
I’m committed to enjoying my fall decorations for just under two more weeks before I begin Christmas decorating the day after Thanksgiving (I did start listening to Christmas music yesterday, though). And while I’m not decorating yet, I have been thinking about it! I love this whimsical paper chain garland made out of wallpaper. And read about my exact method for putting out my Christmas quilts here (Tip: I always put my quilts out first before any other decor).
6. More Holiday Hints and Hacks
First, I’ve received several emails about the pomegranate stems in the photo above. You can find the exact ones I purchased here. This Double-Sided Tape is perfect for no-show tape on your holiday gift-wrapping! Have you ever heard of a BRR Basket? I hadn’t until I read this post–such a fun gift idea! These darling DIY Snow Globes make a great gift or decor piece!

Every year, my nursing administration colleagues group gets together for a Christmas dinner. Our VP is a pastor’s wife. She identifies 5-6 families in their congregation that need help to make Christmas special for their kids. She provides a list of wants and needs for each child. The members of our group select a child from the list, purchase gifts, and bring them to the dinner. Our VP and her husband bring a huge pickup truck to load the gifts and deliver to the families. Last year, the truck was filled to the brim. There is something so heartwarming and personal to see all the gifts assembled and to know the names of those to whom they will be given. I look forward to it every year!
