Hello friends! Welcome to the Saturday Seven 323: Lifestyle and More for Quilters where I share a round-up of ideas and inspiration I’ve found from around the internet earlier in the week. I just returned home from teaching two classes at a retreat just a couple of hours north of where I live. It was so much fun to get back in the classroom with two wonderful groups of women. I love seeing the fabric choices and watching new versions of my quilts come together. (Of course, I also love seeing all of the versions with our fabrics which often include gorgeous color combinations not used in the original).
Saturday Seven 323: Lifestyle and More for Quilters
1. Self-Care
I loved this article: “Become Quiet So You Can Listen.” Learning the art of being quiet is one of the best ways we can become calm and focused. And I just purchased Stress Resets: How to Soothe Your Body and Mind in Minutes. Looking forward to reading it!
2. Recipes to Try
I’m looking forward to trying these Swedish Meatballs one night this week. (The recipe is in one of my favorite cookbooks and is also now on-line). I’m also thinking about this Tortellini Pasta Salad with Ground Mustard Vinaigrette. Also, if you’re looking for a new cookie recipe to try–the Cutler’s Famous Glazed Sugar Cookies look amazing and come highly recommended from one of my favorite food bloggers.
3. Quilt + Sew
Everyone seems to be sewing for Valentine’s Day right now! My Homebody quilt is a quick weekend project you can make in your favorite Valentine’s Day fabrics. And these Fabric Valentine’s Day Treat Bags are another quick project idea. Finally, if you’re still thinking about your quilting-related goals for the new year (it’s never too late), you’ll enjoy this post from my friend Lissa.
4. Heart of the Home Log Cabin Quilt + Quilt Along
Be ready to begin sewing with me later this month when the Heart of the Home Log Cabin Quilt Along begins. We will be sewing from February 29th through April 24th. You can find all of the details for the quilt pattern here. Additionally, the pattern file will be available from EQ if you have that software. Now is a good time to purchase. Use the code QUILTALONG for 25% off EQ8 and books here.
5. Recent Favorites
First, a fun organizing product I love. I originally got these to use to keep sweaters neatly arranged on a closet shelf. But they are also fabulous to use in a sewing closet. I use this Wooden Cookbook Stand in my sewing room to keep patterns handy. I also use it for notes when I’m filming YouTube videos. Someone noticed it on camera recently and asked for the link, so here it is! I also recently purchased this gorgeous picture frame and absolutely love it!
6. February $5 Pattern
I’m super excited to share my February $5 pattern. I recently updated my super fun Pathways pattern to include two additional sizes. There is now a smaller version which uses just one Layer Cake along with two larger quilts that use 1 Layer Cake and 1 Jelly Roll.

Hi Sherri, the magazine said there will be kits available for the quilt along. Any idea where will we be able to purchase them? I don’t want to miss out. Thanks. Robin from MEMphis

Thank you for sharing the link for the shelf dividers. My closet shelf is an avalanche looking for a place to happen! These dividers look like they’ll help remedy that!

They do look nice and sturdy! My closet exploded about a week ago so they might help with the stacks of t shirts

My Swedish grandmothers recipe is easier and authentic. Make meatballs with ground beef and sausage. Veal if you can get it. the only spice besides salt and pepper is allspice. Also add to gravy. We use it generously in both meat and gravy. Put cooked meatballs in gravy and cook as long as you want. We usually cook at least 1 hour. Hope you try this. Also our family are also firefighters. Husband has been retired 27 years and our son is waiting to get his sons thru college and then retire. His oldest also wants to be a firefighter when his baseball carreer is over.
