Hello, friends, and happy Saturday! I hope today finds you well and that your weekend is off to a wonderful beginning. In today’s post you’ll find a collection of inspiring things in seven different categories–thus the name “Saturday Seven.” I so enjoy finding these links and sharing them with you each week. As for me…I’m tackling my sewing room closet today…wish me luck!
Saturday Seven 194
1. Self Care
I loved this post on what to do “When Things Feel Scattered.” (Because I’ve definitely felt that way more times than I can count over the past year and a half). “How to Stop From Spinning Into Meltdown” also had some terrific ideas to help with stress. And “The Paradox of Slow” was an inspiring read.
2. Cook
Each summer we’re able to get the most amazing peaches straight from the orchard in Utah. They’re arriving Monday, so I’ve been digging out all of my favorite peach recipes. I will share some that I make this week next Saturday. But for now I really want to try these Chicken Lasagna Roll Ups. And this Takeout-Style Cashew Chicken is on my list this week as well. For a summer salad option, this Layered Fresh Caprese Salad looks amazing also. And for some simple breakfasts I’m going to make up a batch of these muffins!
3. Quilt + Sew
There are just a few more blocks left for the American Quilter’s SAL. Here is the link to Block 10. And here is a round up of “10 Things to Sew for Back to School.” And here is a simple way to organize a quilt project without a design wall. And this darling pillow design is a free pattern. Finally, National Sew a Jelly Roll Day is just around the corner on September 18th. Put it on your calendar, and watch for more information on free Jelly Roll patterns here in the coming weeks.
4. Fall Things
I know it’s still summer, but fall is definitely around the corner. If you’re looking for a fun quilt to make, I have two suggestions for you. My daughter and I both felt fall-inspired when we were sewing with our Summer Sweet collection a couple of years ago. And we both designed pumpkin patterns that were published in two separate American Patchwork & Quilting publications. Both designs are now available as individual patterns. Find my Pumpkin Patch quilt pattern here and Chelsi’s Hey, Pumpkin pattern here.
5. Home Keeping + Organizing
First, I loved this article on “Defining What’s ‘Enough’ in Your Home.” It’s so true that it is different for everyone and even different at different stages of life. Do you follow the “2-Minute Rule” (or something similar: taking care of quick tasks immediately) or put even small tasks on a list? Here are some interesting thoughts on that process from time management expert Laura Vanderkam.
6. Seashore Drive Scrap Bags
It’s that time again…I have some Seashore Drive Scrap Bags in the shop. These always sell quickly as it is the only Seashore Drive fabric that will be available until the collection ships in January. Not all fabrics are included in the scrap bags, but many of the pieces are a great size (6″ x 13″) and perfect for using in scrap quilts and small projects. Find them here.

Scrap bags are already sold out and your blog post has been up for an hour! I get that they’re popular- is there another way to know when they post for sale? Thanks!

Thank you so much! I’m thinking of offering a private group of some sort so that frequent readers can get early access. Thanks so much for confirming what I’ve been thinking about.

Love the log cabin quilt in the video this morning (Aug 16) with your new fabric line. Will you be doing a sew along with that quilt? Can’t wait for collection to come out. Thank you.

I am looking for a pattern for black and white fabric.
