Hello, friends, and happy Saturday. Today I’m sharing the Saturday Seven 182: Lifestyle + Inspiration for Quilters post. We are going to have some gorgeous weather today (70’s-80’s in May, yes, please)! So while I have some things to do inside, I’m also hoping to get outdoors a little, too. I hope your weekend is off to a terrific start and that you’ll enjoy this bit of inspiration from around the web. Happy reading!
Saturday Seven 182
1. Self-Care
With so many things opening up now, seemingly life will begin to change soon for all of us. So I loved Gretchen Rubin’s article on the Strategy of a Clean Slate. And I loved this article with very helpful tips (some I try to do now, and others I need to work on more): “Choose a Brighter Outlook.” Finally, I loved these “10 Journal Prompts to Start Your Workday Feeling Inspired and Motivated.”
2. Cook
This one had me at “creamy,” “lemon,” and pasta, too! I’ve also been wanting to try these “Copycat Chick-fil-A Nuggets Recipe (copycat sauce recipe included).” I might also have to try this “5 Ingredient Chocolate Mousse” recipe. And this one looks like a perfect summer salad. Finally, my daughter posted my mom’s Meatball Stroganoff recipe…scroll all the way to the bottom for a meal we’ve enjoyed for so many years.
3. Quilt + Sew
This fabric has been delayed but is available now here…get some for your summer sewing here. And if you’re looking for a fun summer wall hanging, you can find an adorable free pattern for one here. And here is a free pattern from Minki Kim for an adorable Sewing Basket. Finally, be sure to pick up a copy of this book for a sew along beginning in June–I’m collecting my fabrics now and will have some scrap bundles available for it soon.
4. Clean + Organize
I got lots of good ideas from “8 Ways You’re Wasting Space in Your Fridge/Freezer.” And here is a down-to-earth article with lots of suggestions on “How to Prevent Clutter Before it Starts.” Finally, before you begin (or continue) your spring cleaning…this article is a good read: “It’s Not that Possessions Won’t Make You Happy.”
5. Summer + Decor’ + DIY
Some of my favorite bloggers have recently shared Summer Home Decor posts. You’ll find some fun inspiration here. And I loved this post with fun Outdoor Dining Ideas. Finally, here is a terrific post and tutorial on “Furniture Refinishing with Milk Paint.” One of these days I’d like to try it 🙂
6. Creativity
Do you ever have creativity slumps? When I do, my best practice is to sew or quilt something just for fun. Sometimes I’ll start something new, and at other times I’ll work on a work in progress. Often I’ll work on a bag, pillow, or table runner. Working on small projects are often just the solution for me, too. Find a round-up of some of my favorite Quick Quilting & Sewing Projects here. And on the same subject, this article from Miss Mustard Seed has some terrific ideas on “Getting Out of a Creative Slump.“

Sherri – Your website is now laden with pop-up advertising. At first I thought it was my device–but it is only on your website. Can you fix this?

Is it difficult to come up with new quilt patterns for every new fabric line you design?

A Question for the Podcast: Can we have a more in-depth discussion about what constitutes a low volume, please? I feel like there are very obvious low volume choices in collections, but then I feel like not everything with a white background is a low volume….or is it? I think some prints “read” a certain color even though they’re on a white background. (I’m trying to develop a good system for my own stash and am getting overwhelmed lol) Thanks in advance! I’m posting this on every platform in hopes that you guys will see this! LOVE LOVE LOVE listening to you all on YouTube and podcast formats!!!! You all stay on replay! Thank you for doing what you’re doing!
