Hello, friends. Happy Saturday! Welcome to the Saturday Seven 167 Lifestyle & Inspiration post for quilters. On Saturdays I share a variety of things I’ve found from around the web to inspire and to hopefully make your life just a little bit easier. I’m planning to get a walk in while we’re having beautiful weather, add borders to a quilt that I’ll be sharing next month, and to get a jump-start on spring cleaning by beginning a kitchen deep-clean.
Saturday Seven 167
1. Self-Care
If you journal for self-care, then you’ll find this article by the Modern Mrs. Darcy interesting. I appreciated all of these ideas for making life more simple every day. Finally, here’s a great list of 45 terrific Self-Care ideas you can do at home.
2. A Mix of Fun Things
If you’re watching the big game tomorrow…Bev at Flamingo Toes has put together a fun 2021 Big Game Commercial Bingo Game. Get it free here. And the Elfa 30% off sale is still going on at Container Store…this piece is perfect for fabric/works in progress storage. Finally, I’ve been looking for a small binder to organize household projects for quite some time–this one was recommended by a friend and arrived this week. And find filler paper and pocket sheets for it here. (This binder would also be a wonderful companion to your Quilting Life Planner for additional notes–).
3. Recipes
Since it’s been cold in so many areas lately, these Cold Weather Recipes looked like the perfect round-up to share today. And I can’t wait to try this 30 Minute Chicken Gnocchi Soup, too. And I’m thinking about this Top Secret Chocolate Cake Recipe for dessert one night this week.
4. Bookshelf
Find “19 Tips for Reading More This Year” in this article with lots of insights from people who read a lot. I loved the ideas and hope they will help me get back on track with reading. I’m still not finished compiling the list I mentioned last week…but I hope to get it finished up to share soon. The book on the top of my stack right now is this one.
5. Organize + Clean
If you’re looking to get a jump on spring cleaning, here is a great list of chores for a kitchen cleaning deep dive–printable checklist included. And there are so many beautiful Linen Closet Organization Ideas on this post. Finally, you’ll find terrific organizing ideas for every room in your home here.
6. Quilt + Sew
Yesterday’s Sewcialite block by Corey Yoder is absolutely adorable. Find the pattern here. And here is a free pattern (printable) for a quick and easy Jelly Roll Rail Fence quilt. My friend Alison is sharing an adorable heart block with an arrow pattern here. And you can find this month’s $5 pattern from my shop here (pictured above).

Sherri—-I don’t journal——because I have nosey people in my family who blurt out my innermost secrets at the most inappropriate times!! However, I do keep track of what I cook. I have a calendar and I write meals on the calendar; or if I bake something, I put that in there too, . ,! I do this out of self defense…….I was really tired of working hard on a meal, and then someone saying, “Again??? We just had that. Why do you have to make that so often???” When this happens, I can go to my calendar and SHOW them the last time I had made that particular meal, Also, at the end of the year I have a nice list of menus N”:!!

Sherri,
I must tell you that I simply love everything you do; yes, of course in the “quilting” arena, with your fabric lines, teaching and sharing what you know! Also i simply love, love love the Podcast with your daughter, Chelsie, and son, Billy. All of you are so great, and I love the interaction between the three of you; of course, your links and pertinent information is right there on the Podcast as well….how special is that!!!
I love all of the You Tube Videos and the fact that when I find something I really love I can go back to it, as many times as I want and review it!! The Saturday Seven Blog on Saturday, has piqued my interest in getting more organized, self-care, book related topics, and so many topics I usually don’t think about exploring. I’m excited every Saturday to see what you bring to us, that many times is new to me.
You are definitely ahead of the game within the quilting blogs…….which I love to read many each and every day!….but yours stands out because of all the other things you are tying to your Quilting Business!! Brilliant!!
Thank you for all your hard work, that I get to be a recipient of ……I’m so grateful!!!!
May God bless you and your family and may you all have many more years of SUCCESS!!!
Sincerely,
Carolyn Thompson

This was a GREAT Saturday Seven! After all that has happened recently I feel like I am living in a germ infested petri dish and definitely feel the need to deep clean. Ok so I have to say since your podcast last week , nosy Jackie is dying to find out more about the new fabric collection. Is the color palette different? Is it more seasonal? Will it stand on its own or play well with past collections? I love the anticipation but a few more clues would be fun too 🙂 Also, my block of the month fabric arrived today–thank you!
