Happy Thursday! On Monday I received my final package of instructions for the Classic Yuletide Block of the Month quilt I’ve been working on since March. So as you can imagine, I put everything on hold to get back to work on this! I know this is going to be a favorite quilt, so it was fun to be able to get started on finishing this up!
This month’s fabrics were the red/ivory polka dots and a lot of Bella cream for
sashing. First I cut everything out…it seems like is always the hardest part!
I loved being able to add in other fabrics from the previous month’s blocks. I chose to make the house blocks with just one background fabric, and I’m actually glad I did that because the fabrics for the houses are kind of busy.
But I mixed in a lot of scrappy backgrounds for the spools blocks.
The finishing instructions also directed us to sew borders onto some of the previously finished blocks so that all of the blocks are now the same size.
I also finished up the scrappy four-patches for the sashing posts…and I cut the sashing strips from the Bella Ivory.
I’m ready to begin putting this together, and then I’ve got to decide about an outer border since I really want this to fit a full-size bed. Finished quilt top photos coming soon!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
PS If you are doing some fabric/quilt Christmas shopping, there are still a couple more days to get up to 50% off on classes, supplies, and kits at Craftsy.

I would say that this is one of my favourite quilts that you have made….and you make so many beautiful quilts.

I already love your red&green quilt and it isn't even finished yet. When it's finished it'll be even more beautiful (if that's even possible). I think I would make a smaller inner border perhaps in red, then a wider outer border green and the binding then in red again. There should a nice balance between red and green then and not one color dominating it all. But then I know whatever you#ll do I'll love it:-)
