Hello and happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I did a little bit of this and a little bit of that the past few days. I’m still working on cleaning and organizing and hope to have some good pictures and tips to share later this week.
My biggest accomplishment over the weekend was putting together my blocks
from the Fat Quarter Shop 2017 Patchwork Quilt Along! I needed a drawer to store my Hope Chest Quilt Along blocks and so decided the easiest way to get one was to clear one by putting these blocks together.
I just love the feeling from finishing up a year-long project like this one! And I have to say that I love the simple straight setting with sashing and no cornerstones. While I was making these blocks last year I kept thinking I was going to do an on-point setting, but I’m happy I just followed the original pattern.
Each month I made three red and three blue blocks–finishing with 36 of each color. When I put them together Saturday, I simply made a pile with each month’s blocks alternating reds and blues in the pile. Then I chose one from each pile to lay them out, returning to the first pile after I’d used one of each style. I didn’t have to put much thought into it, and am really happy with the result. I’m so, so glad I used all of the scrappy backgrounds…it adds so much interest into the quilt.
While my quilt is scrappy and uses collections from the past several years, I used as much of this fabric as I good the second half of the year. It’s sold out a lot since I last checked, so if you want some, now might be the time to get it! This cream pinstripe is one of my favorites! (All of the fabrics in this quilt are from Minick & Simpson, and the border fabric is one I’ve been saving for this project. The backing will be the same fabric as the border).
It’s always so hard to fold it up…this is a good one! It finished at a really nice size: 58 ½″ x 64 ½″–I can just imagine this as a perfect summer quilt later this year! I’ll be sure to share more photos after my quilter does her magic!
I have to finish up a secret project next…but I might be able to share just a little sneak peek soon!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Absolutely stunning! Love you fabrics as well. I started this lovely quilt too but ended up getting sidetracked. I do have all of the block patterns saved so I hope to eventually finish it.
Blessings…
Kristie

Absolutely Beautiful, Great job. Do you know if the pattern is still available. I really love these blocks and have a few ideas going around in my head even though I don't need any more ideas..

One of my favorite quilts of yours! Love the Minick and Simpson fabrics. Have recently bought some, and mixing with other fabrics, will be making the Blue and White version of their Nantucket pattern. I always lean toward blue fabrics.
