Hello and happy Friday! I’m still trying to catch up on works in progress here, and next on my list was my red and green mystery block of the month blocks from Fig Tree. It seems I always just get caught up just as the next month’s package is about to ship, and this month is no exception! There are only two months left, so I’m excited to see how this will all go together!
Block one for this month was the flying geese block…which meant making 32 flying geese in different combinations.
This block was surprisingly easy to put together once I pieced all of the flying geese.
The other October block was this rolling stone block alternating red and green versions. This also was a great opportunity to use up some of the scrappy background fabrics.
I’m really in love with these blocks…every one…and I can’t believe I’m finally going to have a red and green quilt for Christmas!
We were also asked to do a little bit of applique on two of the previous blocks…although my applique is far from being close to perfect…I was super happy with the addition of the petals to this block…it just gave it a bit more interest and filled in some of the empty space.
I can’t wait to see the remaining blocks and the setting for this quilt…it’s almost like waiting for Christmas!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

I love this quilt and the blocks you've made so far! The aplliqué in the bear paw block is really a great idea. Did you put the block together before you add the appliqué or after? It looks perfect to me:-)

I love those fabrics AND those blocks.

those blocks all look great Sherri! How did you iron the seams on the flying geese block? It looks like it could really get thick in areas. Thanks, H
