Hello and happy Monday! I finished up my March block for my Quilting Life Mystery Block of the Month and have the pattern ready to share with you today! I’m pretty happy with how this quilt is starting to come together–I finally added some of the dark navy I’ve been waiting to use along with one of my favorite blue floral prints. I love the combination!
I’ll just need to make sure I use this dark navy in at least two other blocks so I’ll
be able to balance the quilt–it’s a strong color, but I sure do love the contrast!
This month’s block is an easy one…half-square triangles pieced just a bit big so they can be trimmed down to the perfect size along with a mix of simple squares!
I really love these blocks in combination with one another. I love the block designs so much so that I decided if I was going to make two versions of this quilt I’d better start now before I get any further behind. And so…
I decided I’d also make a Christmas version with this delightful collection called The North Pole by Stacey Iest Hsu for Moda fabrics. (It’s not in stores yet, but will ship this summer). It’s a fun and whimsical collection with the addition of a bright Christmas pink!
I decided to hurry up and make this month’s block so I wouldn’t change my mind! I used two different backgrounds in this block so I could use the text print in the center where it would really make a statement (I thought it might be too busy to use for the rest of the background and substituted the plain white for the other background pieces). And because of how much I loved this first block, I couldn’t stop at just one with these fun fabrics–I had to hurry up and use some of the other prints as well!
And so I ended up making all three blocks! I’m so happy I did–it’s going to be so much fun to have a Christmas quilt finished up in time for gifting in December.
I love both of the versions of this quilt I’m making now! And it really doesn’t take that much extra time to make just one extra block a month!
You can go here to download this month’s free block pattern. And if you’re just deciding to join in you can find the January block post here and the February block post here!
I’ll definitely get a landing page set up this month where you’ll be able to access links for the posts each month as well as some preliminary fabric suggestions.
I hope you’ll consider sewing along! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Thank you so much Sherri. I love both versions of your blocks, but I think I love the Christmas version the best.

Love your quilt alongs! Last year I made one with all Dynese Schmidt fabrics with the 12" block and made one of 30's fabrics with the 6" blocks. Love them both. This year, I am making your BOM out of mostly scraps from my Fig Tree stash. Crushing on your Christmas idea and that adorable fabric! Thanks for the inspiration you spread on this blog weekly!

Sherri,
I LOVE the Christmas quilt you have started. I am trying to talk myself out of starting a Christmas version because I do not need another project. Ha! But it sure would be fun to have a new Christmas quilt for myself or to give away.
Thanks for all you do for us!

Love your Christmas blocks! I'm still on the edge-but think I'll jump in the deep end..i've printed the patterns but was sitting back and waiting for the fabric requirements. I was unsure on busting open a new fat quarter bundle or try and work with some scraps i have-but may not have enough, and have some left over fatquarter scraps from a quilt along with Pat Sloan from last fall, that might work too. I guess i could make 2–too. I would love to do this. Decisions..decisions…

This is a great block. I love the Christmas blocks. Just when I think I know what pattern I want to use for a Christmas quilt, you give me another fun idea.

Hi Sherri! I would love to join in this BOM. I have been able to print your previous blocks, however I can’t seem to get these to print out from Goggle. Any advice?
