Hello and happy Wednesday! I’m sharing my “Throw Back Thursday” quilt post now because I didn’t quite finish up everything I wanted to for what I had planned for today! Anyway, just last week a quilt came home that had been gone for several years; it’s always fun when older quilt finally get to come back home!
I hurried and took a few photos, and now have it in the laundry room to
wash! This quilt is my Cross Roads quilt, the first stand-alone quilt pattern I released back in May of 2013. It’s pieced with the Road 15 fabric collection by Sweetwater for Moda and is still one of my very favorite quilts! I also still have a fat eighth bundle of this collection that I want to mix with another Sweetwater collection one of these days…but that’s a story for another post!
This is a simple quilt design that is beautiful in many different fabric collections. I’ve had fun receiving e-mails over the years with photos of this quilt in fabrics from soft and warm to modern and bright!
This quilt has a scrappy border and binding and finishes at the nice size of 61″ x 71″. My daughter asked for it right away after seeing it on the couch the other day. But I don’t think I can part with this one yet. After all…it’s been away at a quilt shop for quite a few years!
And I also love the backing on this quilt…do you ever fall in love with a quilt because of the backing fabric? I have always loved this blue plaid fabric and might have to hang on to this quilt just because of it. Also, it’s going to look really good in our den 🙂
The pattern calls for a fat eighth bundle or scraps along with background fabric and is available in my Etsy shop in paper and PDF. One of these days I’ll probably give this to my daughter, but first I think I’ll have to make it again in something fun. And the new version will also have to have some really great backing fabric!
Oh, and in some “housekeeping” news, I’ve been trying to do some cleaning and organizing here on the blog. I’ve added some social media icons right below my “Hello” message at the top of the blog. Simply click on the icons to find me on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and Bloglovin, or to email. I”ve moved the newsletter subscription form to the bottom of the page (hint: you might want to subscribe if you haven’t already…a coupon code is coming soon)!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
