I’m still quilting along with the #APQquiltalong! I really intended to get the quilt top together by New Years, but I got distracted taking down the Christmas decorations. It just seemed like I couldn’t let another day go by without putting everything away and feeling like the house was clean and organized. So…I’ve been busy this week getting all of the parts and pieces ready.
I cut my sashing strips at the same time I cut the background fabrics. Later, I tried to randomly order them so that when I sew I can just take one after another and hopefully I won’t end up with too many of the same fabric in close proximity. I’m really happy with the way the sashings look here…I can’t wait to see how they look in the quilt!
Next I made all of my red 9-patch post blocks. I used as many bits and pieces from the block left-overs as I could and then I strip-pieced the rest.
Ditto with the orange 9-patches–I didn’t have nearly as much variety in my orange fabrics, but I was able to still make these look a little scrappy.
I love them all together…
So I’m ready to go…I have all 20 blocks finished up and all my parts and pieces assembled.
I even have the label ready for the back of the quilt thanks to Lissa. She sent the label, and I added some of my scraps to border it. I’ll have this sewn into the backing before sending the quilt off to be quilted, and I’ll feel so happy to have another labeled quilt. I’m okay with labels when I know a quilt is being sent off somewhere, but sometimes with my own projects I just forget.
When I post again about this quilt I’ll have a completed quilt top…yay! Thanks so much for following along!
Don’t forget to follow along with these other quilters as they make the same quilt!

I love how yours turning out! I'm still cutting background fabrics, trying to make it super scrappy. I think I'll use about half of 40 fat quarters and then some other bits and pieces and hopefully, that will be enough. I've also been cutting the sashings at the same time, cutting 2 3.5 inch strips and 2 1.5 strips from the long side of each fat quarter. Haven't even started cutting the blocks yet but I wanted the blocks to be very scrappy as well so have waited until I have enough 1.5 inch squares to make the first block interesting. Hopefully, I finish this in 2014 🙂 Thank you for the inspiration!

Beautiful fabrics and I love your label, I too get feeling like everything must wait till Christmas is put away. I love it, but I'm kind of glad when it's over if that makes sense. Thanks for sharing your progress.
