Hello, friends! Today is the day I’m sharing the Quilt Block of the Month February 2023 block. I love a good pinwheel block and had a ton of fun making two different versions (one is a 12″ finished block and the other is a 6″ finished block). Keep reading for the block details and the free pattern PDF link.
Quilt Block of the Month February 2023
February Block & Details
This month’s block is fast and fun. You’ll love the simplicity of sewing squares and rectangles with a few easy corner triangles. Find a few tips below:
- Have fun with prints and patterns this month. You can use just a solid background fabric with a pinwheel fabric and corner accents. Or mix and match backgrounds.
- If you make a scrappy pinwheel a solid white background might be fun as well.
- And use the Mini Simple Folded Corners Ruler to make piecing the rectangle pinwheels fast and easy.

It is College Softball Season for my granddaughter so it is possible that I will be getting behind as I try to travel as much as possible to watch her play. Lots of traveling for a 72 year old Mawmaw, with some resting in between.
Your fabric is so bright and cheerful and I really enjoy your videos.

I am doing the 12″ blocks for this Block of the month 2023 . Concerning your suggested fabric requirements for background fabric , is that part of the block itself ? Trying to use up some of my stash for the blocks .
sherri McConnell says
Background fabric is for the light areas of blocks 🙂

I really would like to make this quilt but please can you post a picture of the measurements. I don’t have a computer, and have no access to one. I only have my cell phone. I’m not able to download things on my phone.

Thanks for your blog and especially your youtube videos. I’ve been listening to various videos (out of order) and I’m curious how you started your pattern company. When making patterns, can you use someone else’s fabric (since I’ve never done this)? What if I use my stash and many fabrics are unknown swaignera, etc. Also, if a person wanted to make samples, how do I get started.
Thanks for any and all information. I’ve wanted to do things like this but didn’t know how to start.
Sincerely,
Mary Lou Walls

I must say Thank You for the “How to Organize Your Sewing Space” list and all the subsequent tips. You have made such a difference in my whole life. It’s amazing how practicing the principles to organize and purge can follow you into every room of your house! I have shared your ideas with my friends and guess what? They are following suite. We just needed a little gentle guidance and Success! I’m still working at it but at least there is a great plan in place. I give you all the credit. Thanks again, Teresa G.
