Since fall will officially arrive here in a few days I thought it was time to put away these…
And start decorating with my quilts like this! Maybe getting the fall quilts out will help the temperatures to drop a little!
I’ve read much in the blog world lately about savoring the quilting process…it’s definitely food for thought. As a new quilter I’m not sure I ever took the time to really enjoy quilting as an art, but more and more I find myself understanding a true appreciation for each step of the quilting process. I’ve been piecing these stars one star at a time–even though they would go together lots faster if I chain-pieced. I’ve just really enjoyed seeing them “come to life.”
And I’ve had fun picking the perfect inner and outer ribbons to border them. The fabrics I’m using are Luna Notte’ by Moda, and the pattern is “Rosettes” by Joanna Figueroa.
I have eight blocks finished…eight more to go. I’m not so sure about the outer black ribbon in the block on the lower right hand corner…I might have to change that out, but I’ll wait until I’ve finished the rest of the blocks to decide.
And four blocks are now finished in the FatQuarterShop Designer Mystery Block of the Month…this month’s tree block was designed by Heather Mulder Peterson…what a great quilt this is going to be! I’ve never been good at waiting each month for a block of the month to arrive…but this one is always well worth the wait! Have a terrific day!

I haven't quilted long enough to have seasonal quilts, but working on it. I decorate in reds and green, so it works for fall and christmas;)
I do love to piece my quilts and chain quilting, confuses me, lol.

I love the blocks you've made with the "ribbon" effect around each one. I tend to agree that the solid black one doesn't blend as well with the others. But if you make more, and maybe add black in the center parts of some of the blocks, well… It might be just the little bit of pizzazz!
Mary Lou Casada says
Oh, so sad to see those beautiful red/white/blue ones go, but it's only temporary, yeah? and the fall ones are just as gorgeou!!
Love the ribboned stars…will be getting that pattern!
Blessings,
Mary Lou

You are certainly welcome to some of my cooler temperatures – we've had snow already! I love your fall quilt with the crow, leaves and pumpkin. It's perfect for the season. I got my fall quilts out this weekend too. I like the stars with ribbons so far – such pretty fabric!

Hello Sherri…coffee break for me…sew here I am…now let's see, it is cool here no worries there..sew I am ready for some fall quilts…like this …but I am with you..the blacks are too dark..you think>??? and the Mystery Block…well I really like those…I am doing the Bunny Hill. little town…back to you…lol
The process of quilting…I have to add something here…I love every step of it..but I have to admit if not for the hand quilting of each one. I don't think I would enjoy it as much..there is something about cuddling up with your needle and thread and quilt on your lap that melts the worries away…Ok, sew I am only up to 4 quilts…that may change…but I hope not..ok coffee is cold…gotta run..blessings ms

My husband is making me wait until October 1 before I can put out any Halloween or Fall decorations, so I am admiring yours! I love when bloggers talk about their process, which gives so much more dimension to the quilt. I think when you enjoy the process, it comes through in your voice. Always love the mystery blocks of the month you have going!

Oh, I love your star blocks. What a beautiful quilt that will be. I do understand how you can enjoy the slower process of doing each block individually. Except for log cabin blocks, that is the way I like to make a quilt.

Love your attitude about quilting! Sometimes I do what I think a lot of people do…work while thinking about the next step in the process, as well as even the next project on my list!I go too fast, and don't enjoy myself as much as I should. I like this idea of SAvoring THE ARTISTIC PROCESS!
