Since fall will officially arrive here in a few days I thought it was time to put away these…
And start decorating with my quilts like this! Maybe getting the fall quilts out will help the temperatures to drop a little!
I’ve read much in the blog world lately about savoring the quilting process…it’s definitely food for thought. As a new quilter I’m not sure I ever took the time to really enjoy quilting as an art, but more and more I find myself understanding a true appreciation for each step of the quilting process. I’ve been piecing these stars one star at a time–even though they would go together lots faster if I chain-pieced. I’ve just really enjoyed seeing them “come to life.”
And I’ve had fun picking the perfect inner and outer ribbons to border them. The fabrics I’m using are Luna Notte’ by Moda, and the pattern is “Rosettes” by Joanna Figueroa.
I have eight blocks finished…eight more to go. I’m not so sure about the outer black ribbon in the block on the lower right hand corner…I might have to change that out, but I’ll wait until I’ve finished the rest of the blocks to decide.
And four blocks are now finished in the FatQuarterShop Designer Mystery Block of the Month…this month’s tree block was designed by Heather Mulder Peterson…what a great quilt this is going to be! I’ve never been good at waiting each month for a block of the month to arrive…but this one is always well worth the wait! Have a terrific day!

Your "Rosettes" blocks are so lovely!
I love everything you are doing….just love it!
I haven't quilted long enough to have seasonal quilts, but working on it. I decorate in reds and green, so it works for fall and christmas;)
I do love to piece my quilts and chain quilting, confuses me, lol.
I love the blocks you've made with the "ribbon" effect around each one. I tend to agree that the solid black one doesn't blend as well with the others. But if you make more, and maybe add black in the center parts of some of the blocks, well… It might be just the little bit of pizzazz!

Oh, so sad to see those beautiful red/white/blue ones go, but it's only temporary, yeah? and the fall ones are just as gorgeou!!
Love the ribboned stars…will be getting that pattern!
I love all of your quilts. I don't have seasonal quilts for myself. I have given all my seasonal quilts away.

Hmm, maybe I should pull out my fall decorations too. Maybe we will get some cooler weather too. Summer just doesn't want to let go.
All your blocks are just lovely.

Oh I like your autumn quilt!~ show us more!! LOL 🙂 Your star blocks look great though I'd have to agree with you about the really dark one. Happy stitchin'!
You are certainly welcome to some of my cooler temperatures – we've had snow already! I love your fall quilt with the crow, leaves and pumpkin. It's perfect for the season. I got my fall quilts out this weekend too. I like the stars with ribbons so far – such pretty fabric!

Hello Sherri…coffee break for me…sew here I am…now let's see, it is cool here no worries there..sew I am ready for some fall quilts…like this …but I am with you..the blacks are too dark..you think>??? and the Mystery Block…well I really like those…I am doing the Bunny Hill. little town…back to you…lol
The process of quilting…I have to add something here…I love every step of it..but I have to admit if not for the hand quilting of each one. I don't think I would enjoy it as much..there is something about cuddling up with your needle and thread and quilt on your lap that melts the worries away…Ok, sew I am only up to 4 quilts…that may change…but I hope not..ok coffee is cold…gotta run..blessings ms

I agree with the earlier comment–the red/white/blue quilts are lovely! I already have automne weather-cool and rainy, so I guess I'd better work on my automnal schnibble!
All your blocks are beautiful, but that fall quilt really caught my attention. It has leaves, and pumpkins, and a sunflower, and a crow…all things I love. Is this a pattern that I can buy somewhere? I would love to make this quilt. Thanks for sharing with us. Winona
love both the quilts your working on……..luna lotte is a pretty range………
sincerely yours says
Love them all…sigh, don't I always. Wish I had the stash to work with that you do! You're star blocks are all gorgeous, even the black one, but yes it does stand out from the others…I know you'll figure out what to do though, you've never shown us a quilt that isn't lovely!
My husband is making me wait until October 1 before I can put out any Halloween or Fall decorations, so I am admiring yours! I love when bloggers talk about their process, which gives so much more dimension to the quilt. I think when you enjoy the process, it comes through in your voice. Always love the mystery blocks of the month you have going!
I love your fall quilt!! Your star blocks are stunning!! So are your Christmas blocks!!

Rosettes is a beauty. The black does look out of place now, but you are so right in waiting to see them all together.

I took down my banners from the front of the house yesterday… preparing for fall like you! Your Rosettes are so rich looking- great fabric! I have my 4th BOM from FQS in my purse… just in case I get a chance to cut it out! Yours looks so cute made up, now I really have to get to it! (I am blowing cool weather your way on a wish)
I can't believe that it is almost fall, where did the summer go?
I have decided my favorite part of the quilting process is seeing each block come together. They're just so pretty.
Beautiful work as always Sherri. 🙂

I just love your work, I feel like I have been to a quilt show when I read your blog!
Oh, I love your star blocks. What a beautiful quilt that will be. I do understand how you can enjoy the slower process of doing each block individually. Except for log cabin blocks, that is the way I like to make a quilt.
Lovely block the Christ BOM is nice too.
Adventures in Alice Land says
Oh, I just love your harvest quilt with the black crow and pumpkin. It certainly evokes signs of fall!

Lovely quilts and you are doing such a great job piecing and I love the rosette blocks.
They are so pretty and I just love your fabric choice.
Gosh Sherri, your blocks are always so beautiful! I do love the quilting process and I'm often sad when a quilt is done. I'm currently doing some hand quilting and I'm loving every minute!
I love your Luna Notte blocks! The fabrics are just beautiful and they show very well in this pattern.
That Rosette quilt is going to be wonderful and I love the way you're doing one at a time…enjoy! blessings, marlene

Love your attitude about quilting! Sometimes I do what I think a lot of people do…work while thinking about the next step in the process, as well as even the next project on my list!I go too fast, and don't enjoy myself as much as I should. I like this idea of SAvoring THE ARTISTIC PROCESS!
Love the Rosettes pattern. I love this line love the blacks. I'm so excited to see how you finish this quilt!
