Poinsettia Stars Block of the Month Sew Along Details
Poinsettia Stars Quilt
The Poinsettia Stars Quilt features fabrics from our Poinsettia & Pear collection which will be shipping to stores next month (May 2026). There are twelve different star blocks in this quilt using a variety of techniques. The pattern is an 8 ½″ x 11″ full color booklet with one page of instructions for each block. I originally shared this quilt last fall, and you can find out even more details on it from my original post.

Sew Along Details and Video
Watch the Poinsettia Stars Sew Along details video above (or watch on our YouTube channel here) for information on joining in on this fun sew along. Here are a few key things to remember:
- You’ll need the Poinsettia Stars pattern to sew along (it’s actually on sale right now here until April 30th, 2026).
- There will also be kits available from Fat Quarter Shop when the fabric arrives in stores. Go here to be notified when those are available. NOTE: FQS kits do include the pattern, so no need to purchase the pattern if you are getting a kit from FQS.
- This quilt is machine pieced with no applique’ or hand work required.
- No special rulers or tools are needed; however, I have a list below of rulers that I used and will be using during the sew along videos.
- We are planning to begin sewing along in early June 2026 and will share two blocks monthly and finish everything up in late November or early December 2026. Stay tuned for our exact start date.

Thanks so very much for stopping by to learn more about the Poinsettia Stars Block of the Month Sew Along. I can’t wait to begin sewing along with you.
Happy quilting!

Hi Sherri, I bought the Poinsettia Stars BOM book a few months ago. My fabric selections are red white and blue for a patriotic quilt. I’ve prepped all the cutting into baggies for a quilt retreat I attended last month, unfortunately I wasn’t able to start. Your schedule for 2 blocks a month in June sounds wonderful. Thanks for the great patterns. The step outs really help as I learn visually.

Will the Quilt Kits be available on the FQS website before this starts up? It currently says to notify when back in stock.
sherri McConnell says
Yes, I’ve talked with Kimberly, and she will let me know when the kits are ready to ship–we will wait to start until then. Thank you!

Thanks so much, Sherri! I am a new quilter, and I can’t tell you how much I love your fabrics, designs, podcast and blogs! I am really looking forward to attempting this quilt! 🙂

Would love to do this, but by the time $ get converted and shipping to Australia, the $18 pattern turns into $50. Hopefully down the line I can get a pdf. Have fun!

Poinsettia Stars is a lovely quilt and so tempting, do I get the kit or the pattern and continue using my huge Christmas stash from the past 50 years quilting and buying fabrics!! Two tops from that bin for the 2025 quilt along and I barely made a dent in it, but I enjoyed working with those old fabrics and remembering all those other quilts, quite the memory road!
I’ve got some time to decide before June….. and maybe get my second 2025 top assembled before then so less guilt starting another quilt!

The pattern is out of stock at FQS and sale only runs through April 30th. Will it be back in stock before then?

I just shipped them some more yesterday. I think they will be back in stock by the end of this week. Thank you!
