Hello friends, and Happy 2025! I’m beginning the year with a post on Planning and Organizing for Quilters. I love all things organizing and planning! And I especially love working on organizing in my sewing room. Keep reading for a few extra helps for you this year, including a free printable to help get you started.
Planning and Organizing for Quilters
I spent several hours this week filling out my quilting goals and works in progress printable (available for you in this post). And I also did some reviewing to come up with my plans for the year (see how I do my mid-year and year-end reviews here). I’ve decided on some fun projects for the year and will be sharing my actual goals with you soon. I also believe in reviewing rather frequently and changing up my goals when necessary.

What a beautiful room! I’m looking forward to the video. One question – do you find the light fades the edges of the beautifully displayed fabric? I was told that fabric shouldn’t be in the light as the edge will fade. Frankly, if I had a room a beautiful as yours, I’d display everything just as you do regardless of any possible fading.

I keep the shutters closed most of the time 🙂

What a beautiful sewing room! I LOVE your cabinet, where did you find it?
Thanks for the printable!

So beautiful Sheri. I love the WIP and it keeps me honest about all the quilts I’ve started and not finished.
Your room is gorgeous. One of my sisters who watched lots of gardening shows said we should make a video of our gardens pointing out all the opposite of what gardeners show usually on these shows. I feel like that about my quilting areas. Very untidy!

Are you going to do a new 2025 block of the month? I have really enjoyed the 2024 blocks. I am adding my borders today to finish the quilt.
sherri McConnell says
Yes, it begins on Monday!

I’ve been doing “inventory” of my sewing room the last few days! Wow! I don’t need to buy anymore fabric for the next 200 years. We all know that’s not going to happen. I’m working on your suggestion of finding another home for items that aren’t going to ever be used! The 2 bins full of waste triangles I told myself I’d use someday.
Thank you for encouraging us all!

Curious how large that room is! It looks gigantic, but I’m sure it’s because you’re so organized. What are the dimensions of the room?
sherri McConnell says
16 x 16 🙂
