I’m going to work on my Farmer’s Wife blocks Saturday, so I thought a little preparation and planning might be in order today. I’m using all Fig Tree fabrics for this quilt and really want to make sure I have a good mix of the brighter lines and the more “fallish” colors. This morning I went through my blocks (boy, was that fun…just seeing all the blocks again!) and divided them into three piles–blocks with a “light and airy” feel, mostly comprised of Strawberry Fields fabrics; blocks out of California Girl; and blocks made with the darker fabrics. I was suprised to find that I had 30 blocks in the first category, just 8 made with California Girl, and 24 made from older lines such as Mill House Inn and Butterscotch & Rose. I think my proportions are okay…I’ll probably sew with California Girl this weekend. The next Fig Tree line (have you seen the sneek peek of Tapestry here–looks gorgeous!) looks like it will be the perfect addition to this quilt with the perfect tones to mix with these lighter and darker lines.
I also went through my Flurry Christmas version blocks. This quilt is all made from one line, so the color proportions are working out perfectly. I’m running out of some of the fabrics, though, so I might have to add in some other lines soon.
I’ve been storing the blocks for both quilts in the same project box…looks like they might each need their own box soon!
Oh…and on a totally un-related note…last night I found out a Container Store will be opening an hour away at the beginning of May…be still my heart…so excited to be able to finally visit one of these stores in person!
Also, before I go, I’d like to announce the winner of the A Joyful Soul Fabrics giveaway…congratulations to Kenna!
Thanks for stopping by

I've heard they just opened a container store close to me, but have not had a chance to visit.

do you have any 'Dandelion Girl' for your Farmer's Wife quilt?

I wonder if I could ask a little favour, Sherri? I am just starting a Hopscotch quilt with the lovely ladies on the Flickr Onahopalong. I recall that you made up that quilt for Camille – I spend a lot of time gazing at your lovely handiwork – and I wondered if you have any tips you could share with us? Many thanks, Nicola x

It's so fun you are making such progress on everything. I have been to plenty of container stores. They are nice. I have never been to Ikea, so I'd be peeing my pants if one of those opened up here. I think there's one about 2 hours away….

I absolutely love the palette that you've chosen for Farmer's Wife – it's hard to go wrong with Fig Tree fabrics – but you have done a beautiful job of placing them'. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished top.

I bought a dozen ''Dandelion Girl'' charm packs for a STEAL of a deal quite some time ago – I'd love to send one to you for your Fig Tree farmer's wife quilt if you don't have any from that line 🙂

Also, thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful comment on my blog, you are the best. 😉
