5 Quick Tips for Organizing Your Space
Before you work on the list below, take a few minutes to visualize how you want your space to function and feel. If organizing your entire space seems overwhelming, then just pick one area to work on.
- Take a Before picture so you can see your progress when you’re finished.
- Make a list of your current works in progress.
- List projects you want to work on this year but that you haven’t yet started.
- Use the Peter Walsh idea to clear off your flat surfaces (in my sewing room I regularly need to clear my ironing spaces, my sewing machine table, and my cutting table.
- And finally, round up your rulers, scissors, and rotary cutters. Make a plan for how you’ll store them. Also consider making a list of all of the rulers you own and where you store them.

Hi Sherri! I am wondering if the wallhanging that says Be of zgood Cheer is a pattern. I love it. I have the panel that came with a fat quarter bundle I bought. I think it was called Emma.
I’d really like to make this.
Thank you. Linda M

I made the 9 blocks for that wall hanging using my Heartstrings pattern plus the Emma panel!

I still have the Emma fat quarter bundle along with the panel. It was so nice that I couldn’t bear to open it, but I think the time has come! Thanks for answering and have a good day!

Your sewing room is beautiful! I would love to know where you get the wooden pattern holder/stand and the thread catcher/bin that I see on your work table. I’d like to have them too!

I’ll have links to them on the Saturday post!

Great tips as always! I spent 2 weeks cleaning and reorganizing my entire space which now includes a long arm. I reinventoried everything and got it into my workbook. The tip I would offer is figure out what to let go – whether it be fabric, scraps or even projects. Appreciate all you contribute to the quilting community.
