Hello! Today I’m excited to introduce another of my new patterns, Balboa! There is just something about this quilt that reminds me of the carefree summer days we spent vacationing with our kids at Newport Beach, California a few years back. Balboa Island is right nearby, and was always a fun day-trip to look at the cute beach houses and get an ice-cream!
I love curves…and this quilt is very easy to sew! There is a template included in
the pattern; however, if you use the Circle Savvy Ruler for cutting your background and pie sections, then the cutting is absolutely accurate making the sewing that much easier! Directions are given for piecing with or without the ruler.
This quilt is also a Layer Cake pattern that finishes at 62″ x 76″. You could easily make it 76″ x 76″ by making an additional 5 blocks. Using the low-volume prints as backgrounds for some of the blocks added an extra touch of whimsy!
PDF
patterns for Balboa are available in my shop now with paper
patterns shipping this week! There is also a bundle sale with all of
the new patterns: Buy the four new full-sized patterns and get the mini
for free in paper or PDF! And…I will also be selling kits for this quilt! Pre-orders for kits are available now but will not ship until the fabric arrives in August.
I hope you love this one as much as I do…thanks so much for stopping by!

Very pretty. It looks like the drunkard path blocks will come together quite quickly too. x

Another gorgeous quilt Sherri! I love the little extra oomph that the little grey nine patches give it. Hugs, H

I will have to make this quilt, if for no other reason, than because it's "Balboa," and for similar reasons. Visiting Balboa is a requirement by my now 8 year old granddaughter, who looks forward to our time there, taking the ferry, getting an ice cream, going on a boat for seal watching, playing in the water, and picking up sea shells. I'm flying in from Louisiana and we will be spending next Tuesday in Balboa. I'll be making this quilt to 'seal' the deal for our yearly Balboa memories.
