Hello! Today I’m introducing Sunshine Day–a new fat quarter quilt! Sunshine Day is a quilt I’ve been wanting to make for awhile…I almost released this as a pattern with our last collection but realized it would be fun to wait on this one for our sun print fabrics to go along with the name.
I could just imagine a fun outer border of those cute sun fabrics and could
hardly wait to make it! You might recognize this design since I’ve previously published a Shine and Mini Shine pattern using this block–but this is a big-block version (and larger quilt) that goes together quickly and makes for a stunning design!
My friend Marion did the beautiful Baptist Clam quilting on this one…perfect! And this quilt finishes up at 78 ½″ x 78 ½″. You’ll need at least 16 fat quarters (but I used a few extra). I also used some of the low-volume prints here and there which added some fun texture.
This quilt features a technique for making the quarter-square triangle blocks that allows you to make them a little over-sized and trim to the perfect measurements before assembling your block. And the secondary patterns formed by the block corner fabrics are fun to see as well!
I love this quilt and will definitely be making a new version of my mini quilt of this design using our Clover Hollow fabrics…soon!
