Hello and happy Monday! It seems like the new year was just beginning, and here we are on the last Monday of the month already! This month sure has been a busy one for my family–my husband’s younger sister passed away recently, and while it was unexpected and difficult to wrap our minds around, we are feeling a lot of peace as she has battled serious physical and mental disabilities since being in a car accident when she was four; we know she is free from all of the struggles she had over the past 45 years. We received a lot of comfort from friends and family and are finally settling back down to our normal busy!
With my County Fair quilt off to the quilter, I figured it was time to get going on
finishing my Splendid Sampler quilt. First up was block 92, “Double Bees.” Although small applique’ isn’t my strong point, I was really drawn to this block and had an enjoyable time going slow and stitching. I kind of wish I had used a low-volume background instead of the solid to add just a bit more interest. There is some optional embroidery you can add to this block, and I may do that to give it a little something more.
I also pieced block 95, Kim’s “Sunshine” and had fun using lots of different prints in aqua, red, and yellow. Remember, you can still find all of the Splendid Sampler blocks here for free download. Nearly all of the blocks have been released, so the patterns will be coming down soon–be sure to download them now…or wait for the book to be released this spring!
You’ve seen the next two blocks before, but I officially added them to my Splendid Sampler pile, so I’m sharing them again.
I’m actually up to 49 blocks now, so I’ve got to decide which block is going to be my final one to make. I’m hoping to get it made and get the sashing and cornerstones cut for this quilt during the week so the quilt top is ready to put together for my February work in progress finish!
I’ve really been trying
to concentrate on just a few things on the weekends: do a little
cleaning and organizing in my sewing room, work on works in progress,
and work on scrap management. It seems to be working well so far, I have posts planned on all of these topics coming up soon!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

I love your quilts but wonder if you ever use a different color palette. They all seem to me to be red, aqua, white for the most part.

Sherri, I just love the fabric you chose for the Splendid Sampler blocks. I am looking forward to seeing how you put your 50 squares together! I have downloaded several of the squares but haven't started making them yet.

So sorry for your loss! We, too, had a death in the family this week. My husband's uncle passed away after going downhill for the past few months. But we rejoiced for him. He lived a long, happy life, enjoyed 65 years of marriage and has gone on to his reward!
Love your blocks! I'm way behind, even with printing so I better get busy!
