Happy Monday (for just a little while longer here on the west coast)! We had a busy weekend with a family trip to northern Utah. We were able to spend some time in Park City, and although the temperatures were pretty warm, it was still much cooler than back at home.
Park City is a fun place to vacation…there is a lot to see and do. I loved riding the ski lift up to ride the Alpine Slide down…but I’m definitely not much of a dare-devil when it comes to racing down the mountain on a little sled!
We found a fun place for lunch one day a little way out of the city. The Road Island Diner features American food and east coast favorites served up in an old trolley car…such a fun atmosphere!
It was fun to eat in a vintage car, and the food was delicious!
We also spent some time walking Park City’s Main Street which is modern and trendy and yet full of historical buildings. As soon as the sun started to go down the temperature dropped into the perfect 70 degree range with soft breezes!
There was something about the charm of it all that was very relaxing. There are many choices for dining on Main Street, too…it was hard to choose between so many options for the meals we ate out!
Of course we ventured down the mountain one day to visit Pine Needles Quilt Shop in Gardner Village. I hadn’t been in since they moved into their new location. The shop is bright and full of wonderful fabrics, quilts and needle-work. We’re back home now, and it’s back to work; it was a fast trip, but a much needed vacation with just a few family events on the calendar and a lot of relaxation time.
Wednesday (July 1st) is the “Minis and More” parade, and I’ve already received some of the most beautiful entries. Michele and her son of Island Life Quilts created a wonderful blog button (below). You can find the text code for it on her blog. On Wednesday we’ll also give a reminder for the next project and the August project, too. Hope you’ll stop by!
Finally…July 1st also marks another special day…I began writing this blog on July 1st, 2008, so I’ve now been writing for seven years! It’s been a wonderful journey, and I appreciate so much everything I’ve received from this amazing on-line quilting community. I have some fun things planned to celebrate throughout the month…something different every week. This week’s celebration is 30% off of everything in my Etsy shop. Use the code HAPPY7TH through July 4th as my thank you.
Thanks so much for stopping by…have a great week!

Happy 7th Anniversary! I too have been following for almost that long 🙂
The Alpine Slide! We are living in Germany right now, and over here those slides are very popular — absolutely no safety regulations whatsoever, which only adds to the fun. On this side of the world, they are called "rodelbahn", and you will find them all over Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. I had no idea there were any back home.

Happy Birthday to you! As a kid here in Germany you would now finish the first grade (end of July) and you have A+ (or Note 'sehr gut') in every school subject:-)
There's one slide not that far from Munich and it's a lot of fun … but I'm not the fastest one, too … I think I'm more at home at quilt shops;-)

Happy 7th! Wonderful Milestone. Would have loved to go on the slides with you. Used to love them – now I'm not sure how 'speedy' I would be. Loved the pictures.
