Happy Friday! It’s favorites day today! If you’re new here, my Friday Favorites posts are usually a potpourri of things I’m working on along with new products and patterns that I have found, used, and love.
Today’s first Friday Favorite is something scrappy, of course! I’m getting close to finishing up my scrappy log cabins and have been trying to add a few strips to each block every time I go in the sewing room. I’m going for 20″ finished blocks, so these outer rows are taking a little longer!
With warmer weather here for a while and not so many quilts here to bind, I’ve also been doing a little stitching in the afternoons when it’s really hot.
I’ve been looking forward to trying the new Aurifloss by Aurifil since I saw the adorable wooden spools debut a little while ago; I saw them again at Quilt Market and could hardly wait to get some! I ordered a set as soon as they were available and knew they would be perfect for this stitchery I had traced and ready to sew a couple of years ago. I used the Tart set from Fat Quarter Shop to stitch it up (there are actually two more colors included in the set: white and navy). I think I’m also going to splurge on the Macaroon set since it has some more subtle colors that look like they will coordinate well with these.
I’m also trying to decide how to use this stitchery. I know I’m going to border it with patchwork and then either frame it or make a wall hanging or pillow out of it. One of my husband’s favorite things to say is, “It’ll be all right.” So this stitchery just had to be made (stitchery pattern is here).
I also made progress on my Primitive Gatherings stitchery! I’m ready to tract the words in the cream borders and do the final stitching. For some reason it’s harder to photograph these darker fabrics and wool, but I really love this little sampler.
Hope you enjoyed today’s Friday Favorites…here is one more photo of my scrappy log cabins before I go…I’m hoping to finish them up this weekend!
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!

Stitching is a great activity for summer. I've got a few lined up myself – yours are lovely.

Love your scrappy blocks and your stitchery is just gorgous! As much as I love sewing stitching has such a nice slow vibe I love perhaps even more:-)

Thanks for sharing your WIPs. I finished my Sew pincushion last night, all ready for gifting to my friend who is celebrating #50 tomorrow. It turned out great if I do say so!

Hi Sherri. Your blocks look great. I see some favorites of mine there, Minick & Simpson – some American Primer. I have lots of their fabric lines (mostly precuts) in my stash! Love all your progress you share! Have a great week-end!
