I love new beginnings; therefore, I love January. I’ve been catching up and getting organized. First I caught up on my Designer Mystery Block of the Month from Fat Quarter Shop. Block 8 will arrive soon, so I was just in time!
It will be fun to have two quilts rather than one when May arrives!
I also have some mail I need to catch up on…on the left is some fabric I received from Cindy–three charm packs of Aviary by Moda, a fun Christmas fat quarter, and a delightful card! Thanks so much Cindy! I also received a fun package from Nanette with wonderful vintage fabrics and ring pincushion and star ornament (I’d been oohing and aahing over the rings and ornaments on her blog last month)–thank you Nanette!
Now…what to do for Charming Girls’ Quilt Club this month…
Goal #1 is to finish my “a la mode quilt” using Simple Abundance–pattern by Camille and fabric by Bonnie and Camille. I love these stars with the pinwheel centers!
Goal #2 is to finish this quilt with Make Life by Sweetwater…
Goals #3 and #4 are to piece quilt tops using these fabrics…Meadowsweet by Sandi Henderson and Hope Valley by Denise Schmidt.
Goals #5, #6, and #7 are to bind these three quilts! I got the machine work finished the other day but have a lot of hand stitching to do–the middle quilt is a king-sized quilt (the first quilt I made using Fig Tree fabrics), and the bottom one is a double sized. Can you believe the bottom quilt has been finished for over 5 years without being bound…it’s my oldest work in progress and will soon be finished! And finally…goal #8 is to finish my Tisket a Tasket quilt top—one block left!
I have a few other things I want to get to this month…including making a few things for a giveaway…my 200th post is coming up very, very soon…be on the lookout! Have a great day!

OMG, Sherri. I'm huffing and puffing just reading about your list…never mind doing it! But if I were a betting woman, I'd wager that everything you've listed will get done…and more!
Love those mystery quilt blocks!
Tracie says
I'm a quilt blog lurker, and I just have to ask a question. I am a beginner, and am in the middle of a wall hanging with lots of half-square triangles. They began as 5" charm packs, and after sewing, they should have been 4.5" blocks. Because they weren't really "square", I squared them up to 4" blocks, which was fine in the project I was making.
Is that a normal thing to do? Will it mess up if you're doing a B of the M project? Example: I'm in the B of the M, Pennsylvania Dutch from the FQS, and the first block is made up of half square triangles. If I square each one up before sewing the blocks together for the "big" block, won't it be way too small?
HELP!!! Feel free to do an instructional post on this subject!

I also love January & the way it feels like a fresh start….sadly there has been too much work & only a little sewing done. Your blog today inspires me to get stitching…all those lovely things to do…love the Meadowsweet & Hope Valley!
Nedra says
Such beautiful fabrics you are playing with. I have a quilt that is about 2-3 years old that I haven't bound yet, and I keep thinking I will get to it. But then, my attention goes to other things, and there it sits. Maybe 2010 will be it's year to finally be DONE!
Kelly@ Charming Chatter says
Wow–so many great projects. Love your Block 7's, and can't wait to see the rest of your projects come together. Hey, will you show us photos of the quilts you bind so we can see them? I'm cheering you on!
Cindy says
It's so much fun seeing Sneak Peaks. And I can't even cheat and try to find what they'll be because they're not hidden in MY house…LOL Now then, at Christmastime – it's easy to get a GOOD sneak peak if I know I'm getting something….LOL
It seems as though every January I get "reinspired" to sew alot. Maybe it's because the three weeks before Christmas, I'm more focused on cooking and baking.
You have some serious goals, Sherri. Good luck.
Sewing hugs and blessings…always.
Jennifer says
Busy busy busy! Good luck with all of your goals! I can't sew for another week or so with this finger mess! Can't wait to see your projects completed…your blocks are GORGEOUS!

Isn't it funny how we can leave things sitting that just need one step to finish? Personally I love sewing on the binding and that will be a nice thing to do all snuggled up with the quilt on top of you while you sew!
