Hello and welcome to my day on the Irish Chain Quilts blog hop! I was super happy to participate in this blog hop for my friend Melissa Corry. I don’t think I’ve ever met an Irish Chain quilt I didn’t love, so I was looking forward to seeing Irish Chain Quilts: Contemporary Twists on a Classic Design.
The quilt I chose to review is “An Irish Braid.” This quilt is a variation with a scrappy center section. This is a fun scrappy quilt, but it would also be fun as a two color quilt. I loved that Melissa asked each of us to make a block based on the quilt we chose so she could piece a charity quilt. Since the block sizes on this quilt didn’t mathematically work for me to make it mini (without a lot of math), I simply used the outer sections of Melissa’s block for my version.
Since all of the blocks for the charity quilt are Irish Chains, they will create a fun quilt. And, each participant chose a different color to sew with so the charity quilt will have the rainbow effect of the cover quilt…fun!
For my quilt block I used the yellow prints from Bright Sun for the darks, and I also used the yellow arrows on Ivory for my background.
Be sure to stop by all of the other blogs and especially stop by Melissa’s for information on her grand prize giveaway.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

I never made an Irish Chain quilt so far but with the blog hop about Melissa's book I'm tempted to. Love your block the sunny yellow is just right (it's raining outside I need some color right now;-)

I've made a couple of Irish Chain quilts, but the ones in the book show so much imagination. I see more in my future projects.
