Happy Friday! We have some very spring-like weather here in southern Nevada right now, so I’m a little bit torn between doing some much needed gardening and catching up in the sewing room. Hopefully I’ll be able to get to both! My four-patches are definitely favorites. They are turning into 9-patch blocks very quickly.
I’m about ⅓ of the way there, but it really is going so much faster than making the small four-patch units. I am determined to have this quilt finished by the end of the month if not sooner.
One thing that is helping is that before I leave my sewing room I prepare at least one design board with several blocks ready to sew. I have ten on this board, and they go together quickly when you don’t have to think about it. I suppose they would go even more quickly if I didn’t worry about repeating fabrics, but I’m trying to organized them a little.
And this is another favorite…the WIP on my list to finish for March. These blocks were samples for a class I taught about a year ago, and I meant to make one casserole mat and a table runner when I was finished with the class. Of course they sat in my sewing room until now. These were actually in a lot of parts and pieces until yesterday when I finished sewing the rows together. I just need to trim the three larger blocks and get them finished up!
Finally, this delightful book Quilt Lovely: 15 Vibrant Projects Using Piecing and Applique by Jen Kingwell arrived the other day. It’s one of those highly anticipated books that I wanted to savor! And I love this book. Jen uses fabrics together in brilliant combinations. Her applique and curved piecing is divine, but there are also pieced projects that beginners can tackle. I love that there are smaller projects included as well…with several pillow options. I want to make everything in the book, and all of the projects are well-suited to using your scraps. Even if you never make a single project, though, the book is delightful to read.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sherri, I love come here and see your work in progress.
The way you work and how fast you put things together inspired me.
Thank you for sharing so nice things.
Sorry if I don't leave a comment all time I visit your blog, it's because my English is not very good and sometimes I don't no how to express myself in English. But I want to point that I really like your work and your quilts are beautiful.

It is funny that you mention this book, because I just went to the library and picked up this book. It is a quilt book so I didn't need to look inside to see if I wanted it. I've spent the afternoon savoring all the beautiful quilts in it. They are different from the norm and the fabric combinations are incredible!

Is that the Aloha Girl line of fabric you're using for the Nine-Patch blocks? The colors are so pretty! I can't wait to see what the finished project will look like! 🙂
