I really look forward to making my Farmer’s Wife blocks each week. There is just something so satisfying that comes from making these 6-inch blocks. This week I chose Block #31, Evening Star and Block #80, Single Wedding Star.
I’ve been working on evening out the colors and knew I needed to use more greens and blues this week.
I’ve also been trying to vary my background fabrics.
It’s fun to see all 16 blocks together. I still need to work on keeping enough blue in the mix.
And I should try to figure out what I’m going to use for sashing now that I have a number of blocks completed.
With my Fig Tree blocks I’m trying to work on getting some more blues and browns. This week I used some of my older Fig Tree fabrics, Allspice Tapestry, along with some Mill House Inn.
I worried whether there was enough contrast between the star points and background on this block, but I think it will be fine with them all together.
I love the blue center on this block!
The browns are looking proportional, but I definitely need to work in some more blues.
And, I need to start thinking about sashing for this quilt as well! I just love every Farmer’s Wife post I see on-line–with all of the amazing blocks being made, there will be some amazing quilts in the coming months.

All this inspiration on the blogs made me order the book. Took a lot of twisting my arm. LOL

Both colorways look so pretty! I'm loving the variety of those of you doing this quilt-along. I just don't have time right now, but appreciate all the hard work you Farmer's Wives are doing!

Both colour ways are just divine. Its amazing how different colors make the blocks look entirely different.

I was inspired and ordered the book as well. I will have to hustle to catch up, but it's never a bad thing to "have to" sew!

I really love seeing your Farmer's Wife blocks. It's so interesting to see how the color palettes make such a difference in the "feel" of the quilt. Anyway, shhh – don't tell the other girls, yours are my very favorite FW's blocks.

Both quilts are very inspiring.

Very NICE! I love both of your quilts and the fabrics you picked are wonderful. I finally broke down and bought the book before midnight tonight. It's 2am now and your post is the last one I'm going to look at. Goodnight!

I love both versions of your Farmer's Wife but I'm really taken with the softer Fig Tree fabric. Such different looks to both of them. Your work is always so precise.

Very nice. I do like the addition of the blue in the Christmas-y one.

I love the colors that you are using. I haven't touched my blocks in a week, I have to get some more of the prepped and get busy — too busy on other projects.

Your two versions of the FW quilt are both going to be amazing. Now, why didn't I think to do two of them? I dithered so long trying to choose fabrics for just one!

Oh, I didn't think of making 2 at a time…. I have the book, still haven't started, but now I think I'll be doing 2 at a time and will have a quilt to gift! I need to get sewing on these or I'll be starting as everyone else is finishing (even if I haven't joined the QAL)
Melinda says
I have been seeing this everywhere lately! I always seem to be knee deep in my own projects when these cool QALs happen.

Both sets are lovely, Sherri!

Your Farmer's Wife quilts look fabulous so far. I bought the book, but have been overwhelmed with so many different choices of fabric that people have been using that I can't decide what to use. I guess I better figure it out pretty soon. This is a great sew-along project with so many good tips on everyone's blogs.
