I’ve been ready to start a new project for a little while now, but I promised myself I’d catch up on a few things first. I now have 5 design boards finished using Lori’s tutorial. After using the mini-board Lori gave me, I knew I had to finish the edges of the four I’d previously made. With these finished edges, the batting doesn’t separate from around the edges of the board.
First, I finished the edges of two of my 15″ design boards using Sew Cherry scraps (I didn’t cut any strips to make mine–I just used strips from my 2 ½ scrap boxes. I sewed them together on the diagonal to get enough length. This would also be a great use for left-over binding strips.
Then I finished my other two boards using some Central Park and Terrain strips. They went together really well–Lori’s tutorial is excellent. My only complaint is that I hadn’t used a glue gun in a while and burnt a few fingertips!
I finished a binding that was on my “to do” list…
And I made a couple of bindings that are now ready to be sewn. It seems like summer is silently slipping by…so I’d better get working on all the things I want to finish before school starts again! Plans for Saturday include making a few Farmer’s Wife blocks and starting something on my “I Can’t Wait to Make This” list…do you have one of those lists?
Hope you have a wonderful Sewing Saturday!

I think the only list I have is a "I Can't Wait to Make This" list. Sewing is kind of rare for me these days. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through your blog!

Enjoyed this post! I'm going to try to make 1 or a few of those design boards. 🙂 Yes, I have a to-do list that I'm itching to get at. I just finished a small Log Cabin quilt for our local fair in about 4 weeks, so now I have "room" to start some new things. I got a quilt magazine that gave me a few ideas that I can hardly wait to try!

I'm really loving the idea of these small design boards. LOVE the ones you put together, Sherri! So fun to see the variety. Don't you just love doing the binding? I do because it's the final step before a quilt is ready to snuggle under. Really love that stripey binding you've got ready.
