Hello and happy Monday! Today I’m sharing just a little bit of the Spring 2018 International Quilt Market in Portland, Oregon. I returned home late last evening, and so today I’ll share our Clover Hollow Quilts booth. More photos from the Moda area and the entire market will be upcoming in the next couple of days!
We flew into Portland Thursday afternoon and had a few hours to set up our area with quilts and projects. This market, Moda provided us with lovely white cardboard back drops that are wonderful for hanging quilts. They also provided an artificial grass floor covering which really added a great feel to the entire booth area. It’s always fun to see how many fun projects we can fit into our little space. My Family Tree quilt also appeared in our booth but showed on our outer side where people could see it from the walkway.
The first day of market is always very exciting. Chelsi and I have a tradition of taking a photo right before the show opens (as do many of the designers). We were truly happy with how our Clover Hollow quilts booth turned out this year and could hardly wait for market to open! Since the first day is usually the busiest, you have to be ready to have fun sharing your booth. I absolutely love visiting with shop owners and sharing our fabrics and quilt designs. (I usually have a bottle of water hidden somewhere because I talk and visit so much)!
Sometimes we have a little extra time to visit with the other designers, too. It’s always fun to catch up with our friends from market whom we only see a couple of times a year (at the most). We love sharing ideas with each other and truly have a great time together.
Of course there are always many things to see and do at market. When you are busy with a booth you really have to pick and choose what you can do. I was able to get out and walk the show floor one afternoon. One fun thing in the Moda area this year was the Moda map wall based on a Basic Grey fabric design. By the end of market this was covered with photos showing where many attendees live. (I’ll share a bigger photo of this US map wall in the Moda area in tomorrow’s post).
Highlights of the Spring 2018 Portland Quilt Market
We loved everything about Quilt Market this time around. Portland is a friendly and beautiful city with lots of wonderful restaurants. The gorgeous rivers and bridges are breathtakingly beautiful. The weather was absolutely perfect for our entire trip, and the traffic was good for us going to and from the airport! But most of all, we loved visiting with all of the people. It’s wonderful to make new connections and renew them with our friends. More about this wonderful market coming soon! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Everything looked very nice. However, the thing I was rather fascinated with is the rug. Would like to know how it’s made. It’s really lovely.
