Hello and happy Friday! I’m so excited to share this quilt with you today. I know Christmas is still a little ways off, but now is the time to start holiday sewing, right? Anyway…this is one of those quilts that I knew I was going to make early in June–it’s just taken a little while to get it finished up!
You might remember that in June I released a super fun Layer Cake quilt along with a tutorial for putting it all together (yes, all of the blocks can be made from just one Layer Cake). My Hometown quilt is one of my favorites, and as soon as I finished I started thinking about how fun it would be to make a Christmas version.
I finally got it cut out a couple of weeks ago and sewed block pieces together in-between doing some secret Quilt Market sewing. Then just last week I finished the blocks and started setting them together this week.
For sashing I used the green dot from the Bonnie & Camille collection Little Ruby. It added such a fun contrast to the blocks and backgrounds! The blocks and outer border are pieced from the Sweetwater Holly’s Tree Farm collection while the sashing posts, setting triangles, inner border and backing are from their The Cookie Exchange group.
I’m just a little bit giddy about this one and will be sending it off for quilting right away. I’ll be sure to share as soon as it gets back! The pattern is available in paper and PDF in my Etsy shop. Also…what is even more fun is that I still have scraps left over (I had cut my Layer Cake squares from left-overs of a Fat Quarter Bundle) and have some more fun projects in mind. These collections aren’t readily available any more, but this quilt would be a lot of fun in the Sweetwater Hometown Christmas Edition Layer Cake or for a more modern look, the Merry Merry by Kate Spain Layer Cake!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend…thanks so much for stopping by! Happy Quilting!

Beautiful quilt, Sherri! What is your preferred method of making flying geese? Yesterday I got a text from a friend asking me to make her 2 Aubri Bags for Christmas! I'll be able to make these bags in my sleep! Have a fantastic weekend!

Love how your quilt turned out it looks christmassy but not too much more like a fun winter quilt. I've bought a few FQs from Kate's collection today just couldn't leave them behind in my LQS.
Have a wonderful weekend too here it should be a warm and golden October weekend with lots of sun.

It looks great Sherri!! Have you decided on a quilting motif, or do you let your quilter decide for you? And one layer cake! I may have to make that one!! And we didn't burn: Yay!! So blessed by God and the firefighters!! The fire that threatened us is just 5 miles north, but Paul drove by it today and says the flames can't bee seen from our side of the hills, so good news!! We will have a good weekend!!! Hugs, H
