One of my favorite quilts from 2013 was my Blogger Girl’s Block of the Month quilt designed by Monique Dillard. The block patterns were all free as were the setting instructions. Well, guess what? Monique is again offering a free 6-month block of the month program! So, of course I wanted to join in!
Here is Monique’s version of this year’s quilt. The blocks measure 6″ finished, and the quilt will finish at 59″ square. You can quilt along using whatever fabrics you’d like: traditional or modern, muted or bright, even scrappy is going to work! As with last year’s quilt, each month’s pattern can create two completely different looking blocks from the same design.
My first thought was to use this bundle of Honeysweet by Fig Tree & Company for Moda. But the more I thought about it, I decided this could be a red and green quilt made with lots of different Fig Tree reds and greens…
So here are my first two blocks…amazing how different the same pattern can look, isn’t it?! The only difference is the block on the left has a solid center square, and the block on the right has a four patch center–other than that they were pieced exactly the same!
So, won’t you join in? Monique is offering complete fabric requirements and will post a full tutorial for the the blocks each month. She also has the sashing instructions available already and has presented the information for starting that as well (I just haven’t decided yet on my sashing fabric). Head to Monique’s blog for all of the information and tutorials.
One more thing…just like last year, there are going to be several bloggers sharing their progress each month. You can gather ideas for your fabric choices by stopping by all of their blogs today, and you can follow along on the first of each month to see their progress! Here is a list of this year’s participating bloggers:
It’s going to be a lot of fun!
And for some Schnibbles information for the new year, be sure to stop by Sinta’s blog today!
Happy New Year! And thanks so much for stopping by!

The new blocks look like fun to make, and how different they look when you just vary the fabric placement!

I am so sorry to have missed out on the first one because I love the sashimg so much, I would have done it just to learn how to do the cool sashing. However, I can do the 2014 one :).

What a beautiful start to your BoM quilt! I love Fig Tree fabrics…. and have a lot of older lines in my stash… I should pick out a color theme as you have done.
They are very pretty!
