Hello! Today I’m happy to share a little about my love of all things fabric and quilting–today’s post will include some photos of some of my favorite projects and offer a little bit of insight into my creative process. I think this is such a fun opportunity to learn a little bit more than what we see on a daily basis through blogs and Instagram in such a fast-paced world. I so appreciate being invited to participate in this Around the World Blog Hop by Jessie, whose work I have admired on her blog and through her Instagram account. So…in the “Around the World Blog Hop” bloggers were asked to answer the following four questions…I’ll do my best!
What am I working on?
If you’ve been following along, you know I’ve just finished a pretty big project. My scrappy Churn Dash quilt has certainly been my favorite summer undertaking, and it may very well be one of my favorite quilts ever! I’m really looking forward to having it quilted and being able to use it!
I’m also working on new patterns for fall and adding to my collection of mini quilts. I love every mini I see, and so I’ve been trying to make as many as I can this summer–and I’m also trying to get them on the walls as soon as possible!
I truly believe I write and create because of my heritage. I’m grateful to have grown up in a family where the standard way to get something you wanted was to figure out how to make it yourself. I’m thankful that my grandmother and her grandmothers were quilters. I’m grateful that my Mom considered it an important thing for me to learn to sew. And I’m grateful for the creative talents of my mom’s sister who also went out of her way to encourage my creativity when I was a girl and young adult. But I also have figured out that I write and create because it is who I am.
Whew…that was a lot of writing…hope I didn’t bore you. Really what I want to conclude with is a thank you to so many people who are willing to think about and write their thoughts daily, weekly, or monthly, year after year so we can all be inspired and learn ever so much more about this amazing past time so many of us are drawn to!
If you’d like to write a post answering these questions…I’d love to read it–please let me know in the comment section if you play along. I’ve also asked three of my favorite quilters to participate, and I’ll let you know about their posts if they are able to participate.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Beautiful Sherri! You've made such gorgeous quilts. And even though you have eclectic tastes in fabric there's one common thread in your quilts — they're all so fresh and pretty!

It is always interesting to learn more about creative backgrounds & any process that a designer uses. I've found that your quilts appeal to me in not only their design, but also in the quilting and in the colours & patterns of the fabric that you use. A word to describe my feeling when I look at any one of your quilts would be, 'uplifting'. I look forward to seeing many more.

Thank you for sharing more about you. I find it interesting how one goes about the creative process on a particular pattern. Your quilts are beautiful and inspiring! I have learned to step out of my OCD box and venture into more colors than my decor from you. I appreciate all that you do for quilters. Now hurry with those new minis!! LOL

Hi Sherri!! It was good to read your post. I love your work and love seeing what you've been making. And for some reason I haven't been getting your posts sent to my email and just realized it today!! It's happened with some of my favorite bloggers, so don't think I've been ignoring you: I just haven't been receiving notification of your posts. 🙁 I hope you've had a great summer, and I'm off to check on your older posts to see what I've missed! Hugs, H

Finally got my Creativity post up, but it's a slightly different format than yours. Here it is:

I love what you wrote and how you wove in your background, your current loves and what drives you. Lovely prose, lovely quilter! Creativity is so different and so elusive sometimes, that I had to think for a while about the subject.
Good luck with those beautiful minis. I have my minis-my art quilts- lined up above where I sew and I love seeing them, like they are in my own personal gallery.
Thanks for this post–
Elizabeth
