I’m finished with my American Patchwork & Quilting Quilt Along Quilt…the “Tone it Down” quilt designed by Lissa Alexander.
I’m absolutely in love with this quilt…it’s one of my favorites ever. Not only is the pattern amazing…but because of the great design I was able to pull some fabrics out that had been sitting in my stash for years and finally use them–and that’s a good feeling! Because fabrics we love are meant to be used, right?!
All along I had planned to bind this quilt with an ABC print on red–but after finishing the quilt I knew the binding needed to be blue…well, to “tone it down!”
The blue polka dot from Potluck arrived in stores just in time for me to pick up a yard–enough for binding and a little extra for my stash!
I learned a lot from making this quilt…it was a lot of fun to play with low-volume backgrounds and work with trying to get just the right contrast. And even though there were a few blocks that I thought didn’t have enough contrast…in the end it worked out beautifully. The beautiful chain design goes through the entire quilt–even in the blocks where I thought it was a little less obvious.
I finished binding this quilt the other night while watching the Olympics…and it occurred to me that the circles on the quilt are reminiscent of the Olympic rings…it just seemed like the perfect way to finish this quilt that I’ve come to love so much!
Thanks so much Lissa and Jennifer for letting me join in! And thanks so much to all of you who have been so kind in your comments! Thanks for stopping by!

After I initially commented I seem to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and from now on each time a comment is added I get 4 emails with the exact same comment. There has to be a way you are able to remove me from that service? Cheers. watch Venus Talk online
