Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing the A Quilting Life Block of the Month August 2026. This month’s block features a pinwheel set inside the center of the star. The block construction is simple–not as complex as it looks! Keep reading for all of the details including the free PDF pattern download.

August 2026 Block Details
I love stars, and I love pinwheels, so of course I wanted to have a pinwheel star in this sampler. I used a low-volume print in the pinwheel sections in both of my blocks and love the extra interest that added as well. In my spring version I kept the houndstooth prints all going the same way–and I also did that with the stripe fabric for the red, white and blue version star points.
