Hello and Happy New Year! I always look forward to reviewing my creative year as a new one is on the horizon. In 2016 I made 25 quilts lap size to full size and 5 mini quilts. I also made a variety of table runners, place mats, pillows and bags! As I went through my photos I also realized I made a lot of quilt blocks that will soon be set into quilts, so I’ll have some fun finishes early in 2017!
While I can’t share some of my 2016 projects until 2017…here is a little review of some of my favorites!
Early in 2016 I was able to finish up my Fig Tree red and green sampler quilt.
This is truly a favorite. You can see more about it here (it was a block of the month last year from Fig Tree Quilts).
In February my favorite finish was my Picnic quilt which I designed to effectively use a fat eighth bundle as well as to showcase favorite fabrics!
During the last part of March and throughout April I made about 10 different quilts and projects using our Desert Bloom fabric for our booth at International Quilt Market in Salt Lake City. This collection is dear to my heart…I’ve sewn and sewn and sewn with it and still look forward to more projects!
You can see closeups of all of the market sewing in these posts here and here and here.
In June, Camille’s Stars and Stripes quilt was so very popular on Instagram, and I couldn’t help but join in with a Desert Bloom, Valley, and Bright Sun version (see my original post on this quilt here)!
I also kept sewing with Desert Bloom with this free tutorial for a scrappy 9-patch quilt you can find here!
My Maple Sky quilt had been in my mind for quite some time…it was definitely one of those quilts that turns around in your mind for a little while before you get it made (read the original post here and get the pattern here).
And then I had to make a new red and green quilt…so I made my Sugar Pine Stars quilt (original post here and pattern here)!
Finally…since it was still fall…I made a Maple Sky mini quilt…love this version as much as the big one (pattern here)!
Another of my favorite minis from this fall is my Coney Island mini. I pieced the large version of this quilt for Joanna for Fall International Quilt Market, and I couldn’t resist making the mini for myself!
My Fat Quarter Shop Cross Roads quilt was one of my final big finishes for the year…so fitting since it was a monthly project for 2016!
Creatively, I feel like I accomplished my goals for 2016. I had some favorite finishes, made great progress on many works in progress, and most importantly, I enjoyed the journey.
As I’ve been cleaning and organizing this week my goals for next year have started to come together. I’ll be sharing those soon along with details for three monthly quilt along projects I’ll be sharing with you on the blog throughout the year!

Thank you so much for your support and friendship and kindness throughout the year; I know there are many, many creative blogs available for you to follow, and I sincerely appreciate you following along my creative journey. Happy New Year!

Oh if I were half the quilter you are and got half as much done as you do, I'd be a happy girl!! All beautiful quilts, but my top two are the red and green sampler and Maple Sky. So nice! I can't wait to see all that you do in '17!
