Welcome to my stop on the Moda Sweet Celebrations blog tour! I am so honored to have been able to contribute to this amazing project! The book will be out later this month, and I'm looking forward to receiving my copy! Hint: my project is a 4th of July quilt that I just adore!
To go along with the blog tour, Oda May sent along some questions for the Bake Shop Chefs to answer; I picked a few that I thought might help you to get to know me just a little better.
1. What is your favorite part of quilting--fabric selection, piecing, quilting, binding--and why?
Now seriously, I don't know why I picked this question because it's a hard one for me to answer--I love absolutely every part of the quilting process. I'm going to answer fabric selection, though, because I absolutely love fabric! The day I turned 16 I applied for a job at a fabric store...really...how many 16 year olds do that! My Mom and my Grandmother both sewed for me, and I've had a love affair with fabric since I was a young girl!
2. Are you holding on to a particular fabric that you just can't bring yourself to use?
Well...I love precuts...and I have a hard time sewing with them because they look so amazing on the shelf! I've been known to purchase charm packs or a layer cake just so that I don't have to break open a fat quarter bundle that I'm smitten with! It's been really hard for me to use my Marmalade --one of my all-time favorite lines of fabric! (photo shamelessly borrowed from Camille)!
3. What sewing accomplishment are you most proud of?
This one was easy...and it's a recent finish. I absolutely loved the journey of making my Farmer's Wife quilts. I made a smaller Christmas version using Kate Spain's Flurry collection and a scrappy Fig Tree version with all 111 blocks!
4. If you could have a quilt shop spree, which items would you snag off the shelf?
Another easy question...I'd grab as many books as I could (I love the inspiration in quilting books) and also take any pre-cuts I could find--they save so much time!
5. What have you gained from the online quilting/sewing world?
I have gained both incredible knowledge and amazing inspiration from the on-line community of quilters who are so willing to create and to share their knowledge of this wonderful art! I could never have imagined how exciting the journey would be a few years ago when I started my blog! Because I live in a small town, the availability of a group of on-line quilters has been especially wonderful.Thank you everyone!
Now, since my project is a summer project, I thought the perfect recipe to share would be our favorite family summer treat! Actually, this recipe is my mother-in-laws, and we've used it for bridal showers, baby showers, and birthdays in our family. Since it's so hot here for much of the year, it's a go-to dessert for our family and friends all summer long. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do! Also, note, that you can substitute any flavor of sherbet for the raspberry sherbet included in the recipe!
Deadline to enter is midnight on
10/14/12!
The winner will be
drawn randomly from the comment section and will be notified by email and listed in an update to this post.
***Note: Only
entrants with a US address are eligible to win the actual book. Winners with an
address outside the US will win the e-book version.
Edit: Congratulations to Heather who was my winner!

I really can't say which is my favorite!!! I love so many different ones!
hulseybg@gmail.com
Bonnie & Camille's Vintage Modern.
My all time favorite is an oldie - Chocolat by 3 Sisters. I bought as much yardage as I could when it came out and even after many projects, I stll have yardage in my stash! And now Double Chocolat was released! More temptation!!
Definately central park by Kate Spain! It's hard to find and I buy up every scrap I meet :-)
I have a crush for almost every fabric line from Sweetwater, the new one (mama sew 8 believemit's called) is so wonderful again.
Can't choose very well between fabric lines. Right now I love the fabrics of Zen Chic: juggling summer for my next project.
Am quite smitten with Sweetwater's Hometown line, but it's so difficult to pick a favorite when there are so many beautiful fabrics to choose from!
At the moment I'm going for the Moda Horizon over the Rainbow Batiks. They are in shipping, I'll pick them from customs on Tuesday and I can't wait to pet them... :-)
I really love everything from French General. Rouenneries was my favourite till now.
I too love my Marmalade. I have 3 charm packs waiting to become part of a quilt. Yummy...
Sherri, how wonderful to get to know you a little better. Angel food cake with boiled icing has always been my favorite, but the idea of ice cream really intrigues me! I love your FW quilt and yours was part of the inspiration that nabbed me....I just started my own FW, slowly, and have three little blocks made! Moda fabrics are all so wonderful...but I do love Christmas, so Holiday Medley by Kansas Troubles is my favorite today! Thanks for the chance!
That's an easy one ... always the newest collection of Bonnie & Camille;-) Although I have a silent crush on Strawberry Fields, too.
Thanks and greetings from germany, Hidy
hildy(at)ebertzeder(dot)de
My favourite line at the moment is Cherry Christmas by Aneela Hoey!
I love all of Annela Hoey's collections! Thanks for the chance to win!
Birds & Berries by Lauren & Jessi Jung. Thanks!
Past favorite is Sweetwater's Sunkissed. Still a favorite even though all I have left are scraps. Newer favorite, Marmalade by Bonnie and Camille. Wat to get my hands on some of that!!
My favorite fabric line is Vintage Modern. Love those colors.
Just one? This is hard! I think today I would choose Modernology (but another day I might choose Chicopee ... or Juggling Summer ... I am very fickle!)
How could I possibly pick just one favorite????? I do love my Sunkissed and Terrain and Good Fortune and I want Cuzco and so many others.
This is really hard! I love so many...Marmalade, anything French General and I'm really loving civil war prints right now too!
HUGE Fig Tree fan and just picked up a mini-charm pack of Tapestry. I think that's my new favourite.
So hard to decide. I love all things Sweetwater and Bonnie and Camille but I have to go with anything from Kansas Troubles.
I love lots of different fabrics but I think Simply Color will be my favorite whenever I FINALLY get some!
Oh this is a hard question as I love all the collections. If I had to pick just one I would have to say Bonnie & Camille's Ruby.
This looks like a great book. Thanks for a chance at winning it. I am still madly in love with SweetWaters line 'Sunkissed'.
Picking one favorite is not easy - I tend to love the pink/brown combos - but lately I'm really like the colorig of the sea glass bella line - I also love repro's. thanks for a chance to win!
My favorites include anything by Kate Spain or Bonnie and Camille! Thanks for the chance to win.
Right now, Vintage Modern, but anything that has aqua and red, has my eye!
I am SEW in love with Marmalade...that touch of orange makes it so fresh and new. Love your blog...another sweet treat in my day. XXX
How could I choose a favorite?! I think I could find redeeming qualities in just about every fabric out there. I will have some of the Michael Miller Christmas gnomes, even though I have NO idea what I will do with them!
I love Birds and Berries and Tapestry too. I do not have any of those though. Right now, I have the brakes on spending, or at least I am trying! I pretty much love everything that comes out. Maybe, I could put a nice fat quarter bundle on my Christmas list, the only problem with that is, my husband would have a better idea on what I have spent on fabric in the past!
I love the Give Thanks collection. Thank you for the giveaway.
I just bought some from a Civil War collection of Barbara Brackman.
Thank you so much for the recipe and giveaway! As far as favorite fabric, I'm currently in love with Kate Spain's new Honey Honey AND IT'S NOT EVEN OUT YET! In my head I've already designed a quilt for my daughters new "big girl bed" with the fabric!
It's so hard to choose a favourite but I recently got a layer cake of Kate Spain's "Joy" because I love every one of the collection. I think it might be a real problem to cut into it for that reason! :oD
Moda has very talented designers so it would be very hard to just choose one line of fabric. I do love Joy by Kate Spain and also Simply Color by Vanessa has caught my eye. Thank you so much for the chance to win a copy of Sweet Celebrations and your receipe. There are so many projects that I have seen and really want to complete.
Sandi T.

I can't choose any one design that is my favorite. Maybe I am fickle. I change "likes" often. Moda has so many great designers!!
I love everyone, but I am very passionate about Tapestry Collection, after I saw the beautiful quilt pineapples here in your blog.
That is a hard question, I have so many favorites. I guess I would pick "Lollipop" by Sandy Gervais because I used it last year to make baby quilts for my three new grandchildren.
I love Vintage Modern! The colors just speak to me.
That sounds yummy! My current favorites are Cuzco and Mama Said Sew. But there are so many other terrific collections, there will be a new favorite before long!
Your Farmer's Wife quilt is beautiful!
It is so hard to pick one favorite. I love 3 Sisters Paris Flea Market and I am loving Marmalade. Thanks for the chance to win-I can't wait to see the book.
My favourite fabric line would have to be one by Camille - yes, Marmalade, Vintage Modern, Bliss or Ruby are all gorgeous ... and I truly can't reduce it to one over the others!!!
There are so many lines that I love but my all time favorite is Hope Valley by Denyse Schmidt.
I love anything Kate Spain - her color combinations are really calling my name. Thanks for the opportunity. Judy C in NC
Vintage Modern is a favorite of mine. Thanks for the chance to win.
I loved Ruby and made a quilt top from a layer cake for my granddaughter, Ruby. Liked it so much that I am making another from Marmalade for her sister who shares her bedroom.
Can't wait to see the book!
i'd have to go with tapestry and marmalade right now, but reserve the right to change my mind at the drop of a hat - or at a glimpse of any new stuff that happens to show up at market - whichever comes first!
p.s. you should be proud of those farmer's wife quilts! absolutely gorgeous.
One fabric line? That's hard! I do love Vintage Modern right now, but then I always love any American Jane, those bright colors are always so happy@
Double Chocolat is my current favorite! Love the idea of a Farmer's Wife quilt !!
Double Chocolat is my current favorite! Love the idea of a Farmer's Wife quilt !!
I have to choose just one? I do love Marmalade.
I love all of 3 Sisters and French General and Fig Tree collections, it's so hard to choose one..
Thank you for the giveaway!
Kiara
Marmalade is my most recent favorite - I have a fat quarter bundle and I'm still just admiring it!
That is a really hard question. I'm looking around at what needs to be made and what is finished and I can't seem to pick a favourite :) I like them all. By purchases Fig Tree is the winner right now.
That's like asking which is my favorite child! Right now I'm sewing with Little Black Dress by Basic Grey and it's just beautiful. However, anything by Fig Tree is always at the top of my list.
It is so hard - I love anything by MoMo, and Moda's A Morris Garden is an old favorite - they come out so fast and furious and then are gone as quickly so it is hard to get too attached!!!
Coquette Chez Moi for Moda. Oh my gosh that is delightful fabric.. just the color combinations. Such happy fabric!!
Thank you for sharing more about yourself, Sherri.
Favorites? Anything by Bonnie & Camille and Fig Tree Quilts. :-)
Most recently I have loved 'California Girl' or most everything from Fig Tree.
My favorite line of fabric is Sweetwater's Sunkissed. I started quilting after it came out, but have been able to collect enough to make the quilt for my bed.
Sweetwater girls get me every time. I made a baby quilt using Pure, table runner from Honmetown.
Sweetwater girls get me every time. I made a baby quilt using Pure, table runner from Honmetown.
I think my new favorite is Marmelade. The colors and patterns are just so sweet!!!! I pretty much love anything Bonnie and Camille come out with.
Having a favorite fabric line is like asking which child is your favorite:) Right now I am in love with Willow by Riley Blake...but I could live with anything. I always love what you do!
My favourite at the moment is Vintage Modern (amongst many others!)
My current favorite would have to be
Marmalade. Like the bright and cheerful colors. Thanks for the chance to win, and the recipe.
Picking one true favorite is all but impossible, however I can say that one of my top favorites would be Urban Cowgirl. Looking forward to seeing your "summer" project. Thanks for the giveaway!
Oh, what a hard choice. I love anything by Fig Tree. The latest offering is usually my favorite.
It's difficult to pick a favorite but I'd have to say Terrain by Kate Spain is my latest favorite. Beautiful blues and purples, great designs.
Thanks for the opportunity to win a Sweet Celebrations book.
There are so many beautiful fabrics it is hard to choose one. I love anything by Bonnie & Camille and Fig Tree. Moda just can't be beat. Happy sewing!!!! :)
Right now, i can't get enough Vintage Modern, but i am really looking forward to Honey, Honey by Kate Spain!
I love Vintage Modern by Bonnie and Camille.
Right now I have too many fabric favorites! I'm still finding my own signature style. I love the Marmalade collection and anything flowery and romantic, but I also love bold, modern patterns. Depending on who I'm making the project for, I change my favorites...I'm not sure how much of a good thing that is :)
I love Art Gallery Indie collection! must have soon!
I'm a big fan of Bonnie and Camille too. I have Marmalade on its way to me but I have to say I love Ruby.
I'm going to love this recipe it looks so easy. Thank you. I just love every one of the Sweetwater fabrics. Each time they have a new one it is my favorite
I like 3 sisters also. Enjoyed your Blog.
Morris Apprentice just arrived this week and I can't wait to get started on it - just beautiful!
I don't have just one favorite. It just depends - is it a quilt for my really old house, for my bed to keep me warm, or for a new baby? And then there are the collections I see and just love even if they don't go with my style of quilting. There's just no way to narrow it down to one!
Right now I'm in the middle of a quilt using kate Spain's Terrain. Made a large pillow out of this fabric to go with my quilt. I love the brightness of this line!
I have a hard time picking a favorite - I love them all!! I would say anything by Aneela Hoey and Sandy Gervais are my favorites. Thanks for the give away!
Sweetwater seems to be my down fall. I have a 3 tier tote that i put all of thier fabric in, then i hide it. I just can't bring my self to cut it.
ONE of my favorites is Vintage Modern. I love the combination of red, aqua and gray. I'm working on my Farmer's Wife blocks, but I haven't gotten very far with them. I'm making mine out of batiks. Thanks for the chance to win a copy of the book. It looks great.
I love "Sew Mama Sew" right now, but my biggest downfall is anything in 30s repros! Just love them!
Thanks!
Sandy A
Sew Stitchy jelly roll is working its way up my list!!
You sound a lot like me, I would go for the precuts too. As well as books and magazines. I love to look at pictures of quilts. Thanks for the blog tour.
I have to go with Marmalade. I just love it! Thanks for the chance at your giveaway.
I love Marmalade too :) (It used to be Ruby, but I love the yellow added in Marmalade)
I love fabrics of all kinds but I have to admit that Simply Color has completely stolen my heart! I'm waiting for yardage to be released and will buy up as much as possible!!! Thanks for the giveaway!
My favourite so far is probably Ruby, though I also love Bliss, Pure, Sugar and Spice... so many!!
Right now, I'm going to say Blitzen is my favorite. This cold weather is helping me work on Christmas projects :)

As a blue and white girl, I must say that Spa by Deb Strain is on my new fabric list.
I have so many different fabrics that could tie for my favorite. I think though that my current most favorite would have to be "Hello Luscious" by Basic Grey. I just love the colors and prints in that fabric collection.

I absolutely love Strawberry Fields by Fig Tree quilts, but I am seriously itching to get my hands on some yardage from Tapestry!
That's is kind of like which child is my favorite, hard to answer! I am always drawn to roses and flowers. I love Robyn Pandolph, Joanna Figueroa.
I guess I would have to say one of my favorite fabric lines is anything by Heather Mulder Peterson or Sandy Gervais.
