Bittersweet...

I normally decorate with  "Americana" quilts and accessories from Memorial Day through Labor Day.  This year I just couldn't seem to get motivated to put them away.  I finally figured out that I needed to leave them up until after September 11th; I felt much better about that, but it was still bittersweet this morning as I gathered them to store until next spring.

I really do love this stack of quilts--two lap-sized along with four small quilts!  Almost all of them have star blocks, and each has a red binding except for the lone navy-bound quilt.

So, it was with a little bit more nostalgia than usual that I started pulling out the fall quilts and accessories.  Fall is my favorite season, and I just might even get my fall wreath up on the front door today!  Those who know me know I am certainly ready for some cooler temperatures; I appreciated the rain this weekend that cooled things down and hinted at the wonderful weather to come.

Oh, and I started another project with my Blogger's Choice Fat Quarter Bundle...when this little table topper is finished I'll share it again.  Remember, you can still enter to win one of these fat quarter bundles here.

One more thing to mention...my friend Jackie has put together a wonderful quilt-along starting this month!  Find out all about it here!  I had fun putting together my block and will be the first stop on the tour later this month!  This is sure to be a wonderful quilt as there are so many talented designers participating...I feel honored to have been invited!

I hope you have a wonderful day!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

I know what you mean about 9/11 being bittersweet this year. Especially when you have those lovely quilts to commemorate these types of occasions. Thanks for being one of my fabulous designers for the BOM! I have received a few more and they are awesome! This is going to be a wonderful FREE BOM for ALL!! Looking forward to your tutorial and block reveal on the 25th!

I too had a strange feeling about putting up my American decs...you are so right I must leave them up until after 9/11. Did you see that young man who was presented the award for his bravery in Afghnistan today....make me so proud to be American. I like to put my fall things out starting in September but from now on they must wait until at least after the 11th.

I've got to check out Jackie's BOM. I pulled out my R/W/B quilt, opened my blinds and draped this one to be in full view in my front window. I just felt I needed to so something for the day. And yes, it was bittersweet putting it away.

I do the same thing for my summer decorating. I always feel sad taking down the red white and blue buntings from the front of the house. The BOM looks like it's going to be amazingly fun... lots of talented people will be creating blocks for it... including yourself:)

I definitely can relate...I decided to leave one of my red, white, and blue wall hangings up. I just couldn't bear to take it down.

Sherri, what pattern is the top quilt? I am assuming that it is French General Fabric????? I love your blog. That quilt is calling to me.
