Happy Wednesday! Slowly but surely I’ve been keeping on with some of my works in progress. I’ve mentioned before that I love having ongoing projects…and my Splendid Sampler project is definitely a favorite right now!
I just have one new block to share this week, but one block is progress, right?
I made block number 40, Flights of Friendship by Me & My Sister recently and love how it turned out!
I think the taupe polka dots on white add a little depth without being too busy!
I’ve also been making half-square triangles…a lot of half-square triangles. This time I used Triangles on a Roll. I have to say that I’ve used this and other triangle papers in the past and haven’t been sold on them. But for some reason I really enjoyed using the triangle paper this time.
Shortening my stitch length to 1.6 made it easy to tear the papers, and I honestly didn’t mind sitting down and tearing papers rather than standing and trimming the triangles down to size like I usually do.
What are your thoughts on triangle papers?
Hope you’re having a wonderful week! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Love the Flights of Friendship block using the background fabric as a center. I can see using the Triangles on a Roll paper making this project easier than trimming them all to size. I myself do not like using paper, but……! For smaller HST's I use Lori Holt's favorite method and cut both same size – sew Easy Corner Triangle and voila – no trimming! That is my favorite method :)!

I also like using the triangle papers.
You do lovely work. Your seams line up perfectly. Do you pin a lot?

I have never used HST triangle papers but I may have to convert. Yours look perfect. Lucky you. I have not made that block on TSS yet, but will get it done this week. I got a little behind and this is one of the ones I dropped off in order to catch up.

I need to get making those triangles as well 😉 There are so many of them 😉 Glad to hear you enjoyed the papers this time, I have had similar experiences of not enjoying them as much, but I am hoping that with the smaller size, I will find I like them more, great idea to shorten the stitch length, thanks 😉

I really love your Splendid Sampler blocks and the Flights of Friendship block is amazing!
I've never used triangle papers. My favorite method is to use two squares a bit bigger then necassary and fold one suare in half diagonally, give it a little press with the iron so I can see the folding line and then sew 1/4" from this line. It's a trick that was in a Missouri Quilt tutorial once and since it's faster then draw all these diagonal lines with a pencil I use it;-) And then I watch a good show on TV and trim my HSTs to size.

Triangle papers! Hmm. Yet another thing I have yet to try! After just finishing cutting out and trimming HST's for a chevron quilt, I know I sure don't like THAT very much. Do you have a favorite brand of paper?

Love triangle paper, especially when you need to turn yardage (or fat quarters) into a kabillion half square triangles. Easy way to sew mindlessly (on the lines) and cut long slices to get faster triangles.

I have never used the paper so do not know if i like it. I normally sew squares and cut them in half. greetings
