Yesterday I started a baby quilt for my daughter to take to a baby shower on Saturday (yes, I know…I was cutting it close)! I was actually planning on a simple design, but then I decided to use Heather’s new book and ruler as a basis for my quilt (I kind of combined two of her designs from the book). I wish I had a really good photo of this quilt…but the best photos are ones from my phone.
The quilt is actually for a baby girl, but the Mom-to-be isn’t a fan of pink and requested aqua and grey. I used Moda Bella Ivory along with some of my Bunny Hill fabric stash and one print from Emily Taylor’s Verona. Hopefully I can get a better photo to share after it has been quilted.
Since it’s a “What I’m Working on Wednesday” post I have to mention that I love my new Olfa Splash cutter. There is something about the shape of this that I love more than any other 45mm cutter I’ve used. I’ve been using this constantly since it arrived.
I also finished up my “Gentle Art” Schnibble…such a fun quilt to make!
My quilt uses Happy Go Lucky and Scrumptious (the binding is the green scallop from Happy Go Lucky) and is already hanging on the wall in my sewing room!
Just a couple of other notes…C&T Publishing has a giveaway for my book, A Quilting Life, Creating a Handmade Home on their blog today. Head over here to enter to win!
And…announcing a brand new quilt along featuring Pearl Bracelets by Lizzy House! One

Great color combinations in the baby quilt. I'm afraid my DIL is going to be 'pinked-out' this weekend at her baby shower. I love the idea of wall hangings though, I need to do a couple of those for grandbaby's room. (And maybe one or two for myself as well!)

Your baby quilt is beautiful! I just received Heather's book and ruler In the mail yesterday. I love the quilts in the book and just decided to use the same design in pink once I saw your quilt. I hope the quilt looks as good as yours.

What a cute baby quilt 🙂 That sounds like me about making the quilt. I seem to make quite a few quilt-in-a-day projects that shouldn't actually be quilt in a day projects. How do we find a way to get more time?, he,he, he. Very cute and I bet the mom will love the colors you picked out a perfect feminine combination without being pink great job.

Hi Sherri, I love the quilt, gorgeous colors and the design is wonderful. I have to tell you that I started quilting 5 years ago and my sis in law suggested the ergonomic Olfa (45mm) so that's the way I went. Got to admit I was never happy with either the way it felt in my hand, nor the cut I got, just seemed hard to get a truly clean edge when I cut with it. So because they are expensive and I already had that one and a 28mm in the same style as your new one, I just reverted to using the smaller one, even on larger cuts and got a nice clean cut. But two weeks ago I walked into my LQS and they had a tub of your new style of Olfa for $7.50. They do a super special once a week. So I picked up one…can you believe it, what was I thinking, I should have gotten at least three and that is just for myself!!! A senior moment for sure, LOL. Hugs…
**have a wonderful time at the shower.

I love the pretty blue quilt – reminds me somehow of icicles. And that's my favorite rotary cutter, too. It's so comfy and cute!
