Earlier this year I was pretty much smitten by the “Marcelle Medallion” pattern by Alexia Abegg found in her book Liberty Love: 25 Projects to Quilt & Sew Featuring Liberty of London Fabrics. I meant to take a long time with this project, but as I completed each additional border I just wanted to finish it up. The quilt was pieced from my stash (except for the backing), and I had a lot of fun pulling fabrics each step of the way.
I sent it to Natalia for quilting, and it arrived home last week. Her quilting is absolutely beautiful. She emailed me the weekend I was at market to let me know she was starting on it, and the funniest thing happened. While at market I noticed lots of quilts with bubbles and circle quilting designs, which I loved. I made a mental note to have something quilted sometime with that pattern. I didn’t say anything about this to Natalia; however, she did lots of gorgeous circle quilting on my quilt! The combination of the circles and the straight line quilting in the borders is just fabulous!
I love the low-volume backgrounds and the mix of fabrics I love! (Photo above by Natalia)
I didn’t waste any time binding this quilt–it’s already finished! (Phot above by Natalia).
Thanks, Natalia for amazing quilting on my Medallion!

It is quite lovely! I love making a quilt w/o needing to buy anything–when it is finished, I can say, "Look what I found hiding in my stash!"

I'm completely smitten with Marcelle too, and am plugging along on mine. It's good to see some ideas on quilting, as I have no clue how to quilt this one, and I'll be doing it myself!

Awesome! The first time I saw a picture of this quilt coming together I knew that I had to make one myself and immediately ran out to buy the book. The hardest part with this one is choosing fabric! Can't wait to get started – especially after seeing your stunning completion!

oh it is amazing. truly really amazing and you're right, natalia's quilting makes it even better. I love the pebble quilting, I do it on a small scale and it takes lots of time and lots of thread (at least for me). So pretty.
