Today I’m happy to share my two latest patterns! These have been “in the works” for a little while now, and it’s fun to finally be able to share. The first new pattern is “Tribute.” This pattern was inspired by the New York City quilt exhibit, “Infinite Variety: Three Centuries of Red and White Quilts.” A red and white quilt has been on my “to do” list since seeing the amazing photos of that exhibit.
When Minick & Simpson’s collection Midwinter Reds came out, I knew I had the perfect fabrics for my quilt! I love this traditional design which also has a little bit of a “modern whimsical” feel to it!
You can make this quilt with 1 Layer Cake, background fabric, and binding fabric; however I used a Jelly Roll along with my Layer Cake since I didn’t use any of the browns from the collection in my quilt. By using the Jelly Roll I was also able to make a scrappy binding for my quilt without using additional fabric for binding. Also, a Jelly Roll can be substituted in place of the Layer Cake–this is a really versatile pattern!
For most fabric collections, 1 Layer Cake (or Jelly Roll) will be enough. And I can completely see this quilt in brights…I’ve been thinking about making a Scrumptious version!
My second new pattern is “Sugar Cookies!” My pattern version of “Sugar Cookies” uses Kate Spain’s recent Christmas line In From the Cold. This pattern is also a Layer Cake quilt which is perfect for large prints but also would be beautiful in traditional florals. I am thinking about making another quilt using an Oink a Doodle Moo Layer Cake–this pattern would be perfect for that collection (and any collection with large prints or florals) since you wouldn’t have to cut up all the adorable barnyard prints.
“Sugar Cookies” goes together quickly, too…I love being able to use at least some large blocks of fabric!
So that’s the scoop on the new patterns. I will have both PDF downloads for sale this weekend in my Etsy shop for just $5.00 each to celebrate the release! Paper copies will be available within two weeks, and they are available for pre-order this weekend at the $5.00 price as well.
I hope you like these new designs…I had a lot of fun making them and preparing to share them! Thanks so much for stopping by!
