Last week my friend Camille asked if I might be interested in sewing up a mini version of her “Puddle Jumping” quilt. Of course I said yes–I had seen her mini quilts at market and was secretly hoping she’d write the patterns so I wouldn’t have to do the math. In fact, she made her original mini Puddle Jumping quilt one day when I was sewing over at her house.
I used bits and pieces of fabrics from April Showers, Scrumptious, and Happy Go Lucky for my blocks. These were so very fun to make. The individual blocks finish up at just 3″, and this mini quilt is just 12″ square.
The binding is the navy polka dot from Happy Go Lucky with the sashing posts from April Showers. You can get more of the details here, including the link for a free pattern to make Camille’s mini Raincheck quilt.
And while I’m on the subject of small things…my obsession with 2 ½″ squares (the ones in Moda Candy packs and the ones in my scrap bin) has sent me on a little journey designing some fun things for these little bits of favorite fabrics. On the 10th of each month I’ll be featuring “Simply Small Sewing: Projects with 2 ½″ Squares!”
Please join me for the introductory post this weekend. I’ll have a free pattern download and information on the upcoming monthly “Simply Small Sewing” events here at A Quilting Life.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Your mini quilt is sooo cute!! Looking forward to seeing your projects with the 2 1/2 squares – I'm making a hexagon quilt with mine from a couple of Camille's ranges. No need to cut them into shape, just fold and glue or stitch over a 1" hexie! Such fun!
