Happy Thursday…the week seems to be on fast forward as I’m trying to hold on to every spare minute of spring break! I’ve decided I probably won’t finish even half of the things on my list, but that’s okay. First I want to share a couple of book project photos from A Quilting Life: Creating a Handmade Home
. I included my hexagon bag pattern in the book…it was my first magazine submission, and it just seemed like it belonged in my first book. Pictured above is the bag in Lori Holt’s Sew Cherry collection that I used for the book photos. This one is almost too cute to use…I think I’m going to hang it up in my sewing room!
I also made a Terrain (by Kate Spain) version which I’ve been using as my main purse lately…I love this version too! (PS my Honey Honey composition notebook fits inside perfectly, and the Honey Honey looks wonderful with Terrain).
And here’s a shot by Korindi of the cover quilt…this photo isn’t included in the book but was taken after the quilts came home…I just love this photo!
Finally…although I don’t have much quilting to share since I’ve been working on a Scrumptious project for Camille…I thought I would share what I cut out the other night when I was in one of those “cutting” moods! On my top left project board are the pieces for 3 more Moda Friendship blocks in Bella solids…more on those soon! The top right project board has all the bits and pieces for two different versions of block 5 in Monique’s quilt-along, and the bottom left project board has all the pieces for two different versions of the final block for the same project. The bottom right project board has pieces for 2 more barns in Lori Holt’s barn quilt along. It makes it easy to grab a project and sew when it’s ready to go like this….this is perhaps my best time-saving tip.
Thank you so much for stopping by! Enjoy your day!

I love your bags! If you are going to hang your other bag up, you could use it for storage, That's what I do with projects I'm working on.

Your bags are adorable!! I can't wait for my next Amazon delivery – your book is in it and I'm dying to cuddle up on the sofa with a nice cup of tea to read it!

I just really need to make a bag from your book with Sew Cherry and hang it in my studio too!
When I saw your projects cut and on the mini design boards I recognized Quilty Barn pieces immediately!
Hope to see them built soon:)

Your hexi bags are so cute, especially in the Sew Cherry. I wish I had kept some instead of selling it all.

Those bags are gorgeous!!!!! I really like the project boards idea. It would be neat to have different choices of things to work on depending upon one's mood!

Sherri, Can't wait to get a copy of your book. Did you show somewhere how to make a project board? This would be so much better than the piles of cut up fabrics that now decorate my sewing room 🙂

that sew cherry bag is definitely covet worthy!
{pretty sure we aren't supposed to covet, though . . .}
congratulations on your book.

New to your blog from the book tour, and when I saw your post in my Inbox was so excited to read it. Thank you for your best organizing tip – it's a great one and I really need it. Ditto Pat's question re the little mats. They seemed to stay in place and that's critical in my busy sewing room. So happy to have found you.

Good idea with the cutting up of multiple blocks from multiple projects at the same time. And keeping them all on project boards separately.

Great bags and quilt. I hope the book is doing well! I love your idea of project boards that are cut and ready to go. Sounds like a real time saver. I need to figure out how to get that idea worked into my organizational routine!
