Have you heard about the Great Granny Along hosted by my friends Lori and Jodi? Lori took the Granny Square block craze one step further by coming up with a tutorial for a 12″ finished Granny Square block!
Of course I had to make one right away. Her tutorial is terrific…the squares are 2 ½″, and the end pieces on each row (the white fabric on my block) are actually rectangles to begin with, so there is plenty of “wiggle room.” Your block will end up a perfect 12 ½″ unfinished every time!
For my first block I used some Marmalade scraps; I know I’ll be making more blocks from my scrap bin since this is such a great scrap project! I also love the fact that the blocks are large and will combine faster to make a fun quilt!

OK, I can't resist the block as well as the mini design boards. Here I go again adding another A-Long to my plate! Oh well, I can't take my fabric with me. LOL

I made my first block right away last night, too. So easy and with Lori's tut it turns out perfect. I'm excited to put together some fabric combinations with my scraps.
