Diana, who quilts for Joanna did the amazing quilting on this quilt. I seriously heart Diana’s work!
This quilt is going right on the sofa in the family room…it soo reminds me of the ocean…and while we’re suffering here in the one hundred and teens and twenties this summer, the quilt is going to remind me of the cool ocean breezes!
There’s also a little story to how this quilt came about.
Recently, I was also able to piece Marigolds for Joanna. Marigolds is one of her new patterns that will be debuting at Spring Market made out of California Girl (shown here) and Tapestry (photos coming soon–I was also able to piece the Tapestry version).
You might have already noticed the similarity between the two designs; however, while Sunwashed involves very simple applique’, Marigolds is a pieced version made with a couple of charm packs and a little bit of yardage.
While working on “Marigolds,” I remembered that I had been wanting to make Sunwashed, and California Girl seemed the perfect fabric to use! As soon as I finished Marigolds, I began making Sunwashed.
Of course, now I need to make my own version of Marigolds, too…I’m definitely going to use Tapestry for mine!
And here are some photos of the original Sunwashed, shown here made with Whimsy.
I really love this pattern…not sure if it is the pie shapes, or the circles…or just the nautical feel…but whatever it is…I love it!
Be sure to head over to Joanna’s post about these quilts…she also has pattern availability information. Because you might need to make both of these quilts!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

So lovely and fresh, I'm so happy to see Californisa Girl made up into a quilt as I'm just about to start work on my summer quilt, I even chose the same blue flower border for my quilt but will be using a pattern from Amanda Murphy.

I love the patterns and the fabrics! They're all beautiful quilts. I'm surprised that Sunwashed is appliqued, even though I love to do applique, and not just curved seams. How big are the blocks? I see what you mean about the ocean colors. These fabrics really do look like them.

Those are simply beautiful. I love all the fabrics you've used on each one. Great job.

All versions are beautiful! I love the coral sashing on the new pattern. Can you tell me what fabric you're using for the background in the Marigold pattern? I LOVE Fig Tree fabric, but I always have a hard time with the background fabric….not white, but not cream either. Thank you!

I am totally going to make Marigolds as soon as I can get my hands on that pattern! Love it in California Girl. I have a bunch of Verna I've been saving for something very special, and I think this is it.
