Happy Monday! I hope your weekend was a great one! I just got back from a whirlwind trip to a blogging conference in Salt Lake City, Utah that took place Thursday through Saturday! It was my first time attending a conference of that kind, and I learned so much! The majority of the bloggers there were women (and a few men) who specialize in blogging about creative things: quilting, sewing cooking, crafting, crocheting, DIY, and more. Being around so many creative people was truly inspiring. And did I mention I learned a ton! I’m excited for some of the new ideas I have to share with you in the upcoming months, and I’ll also share more about the conference soon!

While I was out of town I received the images for a project I have in the
upcoming Summer 2018 issue of Quilts & More magazine. I think I’ve mentioned before how fun it is to see the final photography months after sending in a project! It’s always so beautiful!

I really love the challenge of participating in the Scrap Lab projects in each issue. Three different designers are sent the same bundle of fabrics from which to make a project. We all make our projects without knowing what the others are working on! This time the bundle was very modern and very bright with a variety of fabrics including some from Robert Kaufman and Moda (the Moda grunge dots were so fun to work with)!
I knew right away I wanted to leave some of the bold modern fabrics in larger pieces so as to show them off. And the large floral had to be the outer border, sashing, and binding. The beige fabric that borders some of the blocks actually has a bit of glitter in it…and I thought it would provide needed space to break up all of the bright prints. This wall hanging is a perfect way to showcase fabrics you love!

I always love seeing the cover of the magazine, too! There are always projects right on the cover that make me look forward to receiving my copy. From the looks of the cover, this issue will have everyone ready to sew for summer! The issue officially goes on sale April 24th; however, sometimes they start showing up in shops a little earlier!

It’s always fun to see what the other designers did with their bundles, too! I love the applique bench pillow and the tote! I think the projects really work well together!

My project is definitely a happy one, bursting with the bright colors of spring and summer! It will be fun to get this one home (and get my copy of the magazine)!
Finally…I would absolutely love if you could fill out my short survey here. I’m planning summer and fall blog content and would love to receive your input on any techniques and tutorials you’d like to see here at A Quilting Life!
Hope your week is off to a great start! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Delightful quilt. I will look for the magazine, one that I buy often. I was given some veggie & fruit scraps, so may make the quilt using them. Would be fun to have it hanging during the summer.
