This week I purchased ¾ yards of Rural Jardin…I knew I wanted to use one for my binding on Mon Ami and couldn’t decide which…so I bought both (I ended up going with the red, so at least some of this went out this week)!
I also needed some Luna Notte for the outer border and binding of my Rosette’s quilt (1 ½ yards total). I’m happy to say that this came in and went out this week as I got the borders sewn on and the binding cut and in my binding jar.
Since I finished this quilt top I went ahead and counted all the fabric that had gone into making this quilt top as stash busted–a whopping 8 ⅜ yards according to the pattern.
Charm packs are one of my weaknesses, and they add to yardage totals fast. I think Giddy is a really fun Valentine’s line; I’ll use this to make a runner. Oasis has some of the beautiful grays that are showing up everywhere, and I just love the tones of this line. I’ll definitely be getting more for a larger project.
I also got an Innocent Crush charm pack to add to my Anna Maria stash. It’s just amazing to me that these 3 charm packs added up to 2 yards of fabric.
Anyway…4 ¼ yards came in this week making 12 ⅜ in for the year…and it’s only the 16th! But…on the positive side, when you finish a UFO you get to count all of the yardage in that project, so it really helps the numbers here–8 ⅝ was “busted” this week meaning that I’ve “busted” 14 yards year to date and am on the positive side–having “used” more than purchased. The secret to this is definitely to finish your already started projects! (In year to date 12 ⅜…used year to date 14 yards…total busted 1 ⅝ yards)!
There seem to be a lot of people participating in this stash report with Judy…it’s fun to read all of the reports!I’m not so sure what next week will bring…I may have possibly hit the “check-out” button a few times this week–and I have a good amount of fabric that will be arriving for projects I won’t be able to share for awhile! But for now, I’m good!

I love this Rosette quilt. It looks great in the Luna Notte line which I think is hard to find a good pattern for these fabrics as they are very light, but beautiful. I love seeing the completed quilt. I also can't wait to see what you decide with the Oasis line. I bought a charm pack this week too. Love the colors.
Thanks for sharing!

what a fabulous house block for your BOM project! Such fun colors make for such a charming block. I have a weakness for charm packs too – they give you a little taste of a collection you love. I haven't seen that Giddy collection – looks adorable!

I figure you should count your stash in/out however you want. No police here. And I'm with you on the charm packs. I have a big weakness for them too!

Last year, I only counted when I finished a quilt all the way, but this year, I'm counting any fabric that moves in or out as I use it.
I'm doing that because it was discouraging to me to work on a quilt and then not be able to count it until the end. This year, I'm doing a lot of BOM and other things that I didn't do last year, too.
When there was a "discussion" about this before, a couple people said that the reason they don't count their fabric out until the end was that it helped them to actually finish quilts and not just start lots of projects.
I think you just have to know yourself and do what's going to work best for you…and remember, there are no quilt police. 😉

The top is beautiful! I've been counting too, but making a concerted effort not to bring anything in! LOL It's working so far! Happy stash busting!

Is there anywhere online that shows the yardage equivalents to the precuts?? I suppose I could get a calculator and figure it out but if someone else has already done that…
😉
When you can finally reveal all of your secret sewing your numbers OUT will go way up!

Love Love Love your Luna Notte! I too love that Oasis line…SOOOO pretty. I'm already pondering how I can use it.
Dianne says
as for the calculation of the BOM yardage…I'm going to just calculate the yardage for the total package, and when I complete it, I'll take it off of my report.

Your block turned out so nice. I loved working with mine. It is amazing how much extra fabric that you are left with after the block is made. There seems to be enough to make two blocks. You received a really nice selection of fabric.

I got my BOM this week, too, but haven't put it together yet. Thanks for the sneak peek! I am now 3 months behind. And I had been doing so well keeping up!
I don't keep track of my fabric like some of you awesome people. It's too hard to figure up and I'd rather spend that time sewing! haha.
